Android will be losing one of its very important members. Google’s vice president of Android product management Hugo Barra quiet and will be furthering his career with Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone company that controls about five percent of the entire smartphone market in China. The news of Barra’s departure with the company comes six months after Google’s former Android head Andy Rubin decided to live the company to start his own thing.
This is one serious blow for Android and might make the company have to rethink their strategy and mobile focus. However, AllThingsD also reports that Barra’s departure could be a cause of something greater and might not have to do anything with Android or Google. It might actually be because of a romantic fling gone bad. Supposedly, Barra was going out with a fellow Google employee who is now dating another Google head chef, c0-founder Sergey Brin. Barra didn’t mention any of this soap opera office drama in his goodbye Google+ post, so this might be a rumor.
