Take a tour of the White House…digitally! Thanks to Google Art Project and President Obama, you can now take a virtual 360-degree tour of the White House and its public rooms. Already open to the public for tours, the President and The First Lady want to open up 1600 Pennsylvania Ave to everybody who wants to take a peak inside as a way to make the White House more accessible. The White House is the only building in the world that is simultaneously the home of a head of state, the executive office of a head of state, and is regularly open to the public for tours.
The Google Art Project (it launched in Feb. 2011) uses Google technology to allow users to view museum objects in high-res and explore institutions through Google Street View. The White House tour is a new expansion of the project. The White House is the latest tour in a list that includes 46 top galleries around the globe.
