Samsung’s Alias2 (aka U740) ain’t exactly the best looking device set to hit the Verizon product line up for 09, but at least it might be one of the more innovative ones. First, let’s just remember that the Alias is a phone that features a dual hinge design that displayed the same keyboard regardless of which way the handset was opened. Complicated and cluttered are words that come to my mind.
Enter the Alias2. Utilizing some sort of dynamic keyboard, perhaps like the one we saw in the Panasonic P-01A (the keypad physically rolled over like a flight status board from the 90s) the Alias2 displays a QWERTY keyboard or keypad depending on how the phone is opened. Leakster says that the phone might use E-inks technology, but that sounds a bit over the top and would probably make the handset God awful expensive. My money is on a ‘roll over’ keypad.
