If you’re a fan of curved screens, the MSI comes loaded with features. Apart from the usual performance features, it has added functions like night vision, Steelseries Gamesense, and MSI’s Gaming OSD app. The Freesync technology makes it an alternative to the rivals on our best g-sync monitors list. But how does it fare compared to the best computer monitors?

Why We Like It – MSI Optix MPG341CQR

The MSI Optix MPG341CQR is a fantastic ultrawide gaming monitor that’s packed with gaming-orientated features like a large screen size, brilliant image quality, quick response times, and a fast refresh rate. It also has a classy appearance and small conveniences like a webcam cradle and mouse bungee.

  • 144 Hz refresh rate
  • 1 m/s response time
  • Freesync compatible
  • Quite expensive
  • Webcam can only be used for facial recognition
  • Average HDR quality

The MSI Optix is a gaming monitor with astounding performance. It forgoes an IPS Panel in favor of a VA panel. However, it still has fantastic image quality and a 3440 x 1440 UWQHD 3K resolution. The contrast ratio is an impressive 3000:1 and the refresh rate sits at 144 Hz. The adaptive sync Freesync and 1 m/s response time ensure that motion blur is kept to a minimum for the best gaming performance possible. We can’t review MSI’s MPG341CQR without mentioning the Acer Predator X34 which is a worthy rival.

There’s no doubt that the MSI MPG341CQR stands out compared to most ultrawide gaming monitors. The frameless design and RGB lighting give it a futuristic look. MSI has added extra touches like a webcam holder, and mouse bungee to increase its appeal. The front LEDs can even work with Gamesense supported games to deliver in-game information like health and ammo levels. The integrated webcam can’t work for conventional use, but it can detect the face of the current user and change the settings accordingly. The Asus PG27AQ is worth a look if you’d prefer a flat screen.

This MSI screen may be a bit heavy on the pocket, but it’s got more than enough features to make up for it. It’s got fantastic image quality and performance ability to match. There aren’t many monitors that pack so many extras like Gamsense compatibility, facial recognition, and Mystic Light. Every aspect of this monitor has been optimized for gamers including the wide viewing angle, frameless design, and of course, the Freesync compatibility. The Acer Predator XB271HU is an affordable alternative.

MSI Optix MPG341CQR Wrap Up

This screen is an excellent all-round performer. It has premier performance features and a large curved screen for an immersive experience. MSI has added as many gamer-friendly features as possible to make it stand out. It’s pricey compared to most of the competition, but it can more than justify its price.
