It’s so common for your original warranty to burn you when you need it most, especially if you’re not sure how long a cell phone will last, depending on your usage and maintenance. That’s where the best cell phone insurance can help you rather than hinder you. In this case, Geek Squad Phone Protection Plan. It can cover accidental damage because we’re all human. Even your original in-box accessories are covered!
Aimed at providing great customer service, the Geek Squad Phone Protection Plan can make repairs to your phone and provide replacements for original in-box accessories. After all, accidents happen! Do you need an all-in-one plan? The Progressive Cell Phone Insurance plan can cover your phone and other electronics, giving you peace of mind.
Plans are split into two categories: Basic and Complete. Under the “Basic” umbrella, you can expect coverage such as accidental damage, repairs due to bad pixels and wear and tear, charging issues, upkeep, and replacements on original in-box accessories. It isn’t very different from Protect Your Bubble Phone Insurance. Similar to the Best Buy Protection plan, complete covers everything Basic does but adds in lost/stolen coverage. It’s under Complete, where you’ll worry about paying a deductible, which ranges between $199.99 to $249.99, based on your device’s value. Or, if you prefer a plan that’s easy to understand with one yearly fee, the Costco Cell Phone Insurance Plan is a better option. On the other hand, if you want a lower monthly payment, check out the RMG Group Cell phone insurance.
Geek Squad Phone Protection Plan, unfortunately, does not provide any sort of backup services. Thankfully, your service provider should already have some kind of service already, plus free services like backing up data via Google.
Geek Squad’s customer service is top-notch. It’s the insurance company that tends to cause issues. You see, Geek Squad’s insurance is provided by Asurion. Generally speaking, Asurion has a favorable 4.8 average rating out of 5. Dive into reviews, and you’ll find many that curse its name. Apparently, making a claim—which is where you’ll make your claim, not through Geek Squad—can be a circus. So, bring popcorn.
Unfortunately, security features aren’t available from Geek Squad Phone Protection Plan. Like Akko Phone Insurance, Geek Squad Phone Protection Plan primarily covers physical damage.
Is the Geek Squad Protection Plan worth it? It can be if your device is valued at $500 because that’s when the Complete plan kicks in and holds the most value. Anything under that, and you end up running into convoluted pricing. The cost is divided into brackets based on value. You won’t necessarily get to pick your plan. That’s where Squaretrade Cell Phone Insurance shines because it goes off a flat fee, regardless of your phone’s value.
If you want peace of mind for your cheap device or you have an extravagant phone, Geek Squad Phone Protection Plan is worth seriously considering. Anything in between should probably look elsewhere, like Squaretrade or Sprint Complete if you have Sprint. Still, having insurance for everyday wear and tear, accessories, and upkeep surely reduces your stress.
