AirDuino Air Guitar Apparatus In The Works (video)

It’s amazing what some people will do to further what can be done with Air Guitar.  With the several air guitar apps for the iPhone and the wearable guitar shirt, I’m beginning to miss the original version.

In this video, some foreign gentlemen demonstrate  how their new air guitar peripheral works and what it sounds like.  It looks like they’ve got the speed down pretty good but the sound is like last call at some Hooka Bar.  Do you think this idea has some traction?

Nintendo GameBoy Finally Inducted Into Toy Hall Of Fame

November 6th, 2009 11:59 AM | by Jeff Bordeaux

gameboy1989

Not knowing that there even was a Toy Hall Of Fame, I’m pleased to announce that the Nintendo GameBoy has just been inducted.  Officially called Strong National Museum of Play’s Toy Hall of Fame, this black and white portable gamer was the final choice among 12 finalists of culturally important toys.

Many of you gamers around for the advent of the Gameboy will remember clearly just how cool this thing was.  I actually never had one.  I did have the Atari Lynx which was awesome for back then too.

Also recently inducted was the ball.

Thrustmaster Intros Budget Friendly RIDE Experience

November 5th, 2009 8:29 PM | by Christen da Costa

Thrusmaster's T-Freestyle NW

Ok, I’ll be honest, best I can suss out from the press release is that Thrusmaster’s T-Freestyle NW gaming board is a piece of wood with rubber bumpers that works in concert with the Wii Balance Board to produce a RIDE like experience for current and soon to be released Wii snowboarding and skateboarding games.  And I don’t know what Rolling Motion Board technology is, but whatever ‘koolaid’ Thrustmaster’s marketing team is cooking up I want a sip of it.

It’s crafted of genuine maple and launches this holiday season (end of November) for $29.99. …Continue reading: Thrustmaster Intros Budget Friendly RIDE Experience

Namco Classic Video Game Zippo Lighters

Having just played Xevious not to long ago, seeing these lighters only furthers my warm fuzzy nostalgia feelings.  A week or so back we saw the classic Sega gaming systems as Zippos, and while they looked sweet they were way over priced.

These new Namco Games Zippos are not quite as expensive (about $110), but have a greater mass appeal.  Channeling Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galaxian, and of course Xevious, these Zippos are ready to make an appearance at next year’s E3.

Still too overpriced or what?

Walmart Xbox 360 With $100 Gift Card

Well, I guess I was wrong, it is week 41 for Walmart!  Because today that leaked deal, the Xbox 360 Arcade console with $100 Gift Card for $199, it’s now live.  Unfortunately, it looks like it’s available in stores only, but they’ve got it listed on their website, so it doesn’t get more official than that!

Update: I’m hearing the sale start this Saturday, 11/7, despite Walmart already listing it on their site.

Modern Warfare 2 To Have Two Strategy Guides

November 3rd, 2009 4:53 PM | by Jeff Bordeaux

codfakebeta

In what’s shaping up to be one of the biggest game releases ever, today has found that MW2 will have two separate strategy guides.  One of them is the normal guide that you’d find for most all games, but the other is the “premium” strategy guide.

Oh snap you might say?

All that is different between the two besides the price difference is that the “premium” one will hard bound and that it will divulge how to get all of the achievements and trophies.

I personally think it is a waste to buy a guide for any COD game but from a business standpoint, which it always is, this is a great idea.  Milk them udders!

Say it like Satan would.  Slow and bellowing…BUY NOW!!!!

Splinter Cell Conviction Collectors Edition

While it’s a far reach from “Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition“, Ubisoft’s “Splinter Cell: Conviction” Collector’s Edition is looking like some good bang for your buck, that is assuming you’re into this kind of crap.  Included is a USB flash drive with all sorts of Splinter Cell media, a hard-bound copy of “Fifth Freedom: The Art of Splinter Cell”, two in game items (MP5-SD3 submachine gun and a 3rd Echelon outfit for multiplayer), decals, “Digging in the Ashes” comic book and a metallic steel case.

The CE version of “Splinter Cell: Conviction” will also launch on 2/23 and cost $79.99.

Gadget Leak: Walmart To Sell Xbox 360 Arcade For $199 With $100 Gift Card

November 3rd, 2009 2:51 PM | by Christen da Costa

Walmart xbox 360 deal

As we draw closer to holiday shopping time we are seeing more and more Black Friday deals revealed.  And while many of those have been issued from the retailer themselves, Walmart looks to be holding out a bit longer, that it until today when an ‘off the chain’ Xbox 360 deal was leaked out.

According to the above screen shot the ‘Rollback’ retailer will be selling an Xbox 360 Arcade console for $199 with a $100 gift card, which essentially brings the total price to $99 (plus tax).  The only thing that doesn’t make sense is that it says ‘weekly events – week 41′.  The problem with that is that we’re already in week 42 of the year, but let’s hope they’re working off a fiscal calendar.

‘Left 4 Dead 2′ Demo Now Available For Xbox Live Gold Members

November 3rd, 2009 2:07 PM | by Christen da Costa

left_4_dead-2

Hardcore zombie fans rejoice, because Valve, the makers of Left 4 Dead, have just released a demo of Left 4 Dead 2, the highly anticipate co-op game to Xbox Live Gold members. That’s right, you can download it right now!

I played the first one and though I can’t say I was addicted it’s definitely an entertaining experience.  The co-op aspect makes the game all the more fun and the arcade style feel makes it an easy ‘pick up and play’.

The sequel to the best-selling and critically-acclaimed co-operative multiplayer smash from Valve®, Left 4 Dead™ 2 promises to become one of 2009’s top-selling games and set a new benchmark for co-operative action games. Left 4 Dead 2 takes place at roughly the same time as the original, and leads four new “Survivors” through the southeastern United States — from Savannah, Georgia to New Orleans’ French Quarter. The title adds melee combat, new monsters and weapons, the AI Director 2.0, and more to create a larger game than the original. Visit www.l4d.com for more information.
