Installing one of those USB/AC wall outlets can be a lesson in electricity and it’s ability to inflict pain. That is to say, it can be a dangerous endeavor, as well as a difficult one for anyone not educated in the ways of handimaness.  So with that in mind I present to you the Plug-in USB Wall Outlet.

Instead of removing and replacing your existing wall outlets, this one plugs into one of the sockets by placing it on top.  While the outlets won’t any longer be flush with the wall (it’s 1″ thick), you’ll attain the convenience of two built-in USB plugs and all the while maintain an AC outlet for everything that isn’t USB based.  Moreover, one of the two USB ports has been outfitted with a 2.1 AMP rating, which is the ideal amount of juice to charge up your iPad.

Hammacher sells a set of two, in white, for $40.
