Have you ever wanted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, but don’t have the funds or the courage to do so? Well now Google Maps is letting you virtually climb Mount Kilimanjaro and other extreme steeps via their new Mountain Summit Street View. Their new summit shots are thanks to Google’s Dan Fredinburg, program manager and mountaineer, who led the Google Mountain Enthusiast teams on many mountain climbing adventures up Aconcagua in Argentina, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Mount Elbrus in Russia, and up to the Everest South Base Camp in Nepal. They took just a tripod and camera with a fish-eye lens to capture the amazing views they saw for the rest of the world to see. Although the team didn’t make it all the way up to Mount Everest (they got there a little too early in the season), but still got some amazing footage.
