Hey kids, recycling is fun now! The Dream Machine, a collaboration between PepsiCo and Waste Management, is a recycling machine that awards points every time a bottle is returned. Pepsi’s planning on putting these things in high traffic areas across the country, like malls and sports stadiums.
Obviously, the idea here is to get more people to recycle, because us Americans are lazy if we’re not rewarded for doing things we should be doing anyway. The company hopes to increase Pepsi bottle returns from 34% to 50% by 2018. Pepsi hasn’t said what the points will be used for, but I’m guessing more carbonated sugar water.
