Modern Floating Boat House is Full of Steel and Wood (pics)

We’ve long regarded house boats as the last place we’d ever want to live.  Generally speaking they’re antiquated on the outside and inside, which results in a home that isn’t comfortable or accommodating.

Boy, we couldn’t be any more wrong after laying eyes on this houseboat located in Germany’s Eilbek Canal.  Created by architecture firm Sprenger von der Lippe, this home has 1,500 square feet of living space, in addition to three rather large outside terraces, 2.5 bathrooms, a fully featured living room, and what we assume are two bedrooms (might just be one – we don’t read German or blueprints very well).  Needless to say, the structure is crafted from steel beams which have been left exposed, providing the home with a very modern feel, though it is well contrasted by the presence of wood, as found in the decks and kitchen cabinets.
