Product Snapshot

Overview

The Corsair HS80 RGB WIRELESS is a mid-range gaming headset that made its debut in 2021, featuring an elastic headband. This headset boasts a boom mic, which flips up to mute. It connects via a USB dongle, providing wireless connectivity to PCs and PS5. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a detachable analog cable, so it won’t work with most other consoles and mobile devices. You can find devices with a 3.5mm cable among the top-rated gaming headsets.

This device has on-ear controls for adjusting the volume, muting, and cycling through EQ presets. Unfortunately, there’s nothing for channel mixing or controlling music playback. Users who travel frequently will be disappointed that it doesn’t have active noise cancellation and doesn’t come with a case. Continue reading our Corsair HS80 RGB WIRELESS below, and be sure to check out our Corsair HS70 review if you prefer you prefer something with a more neutral sound profile.

Consensus

our Verdict

Even though the Corsair HS80 RGB WIRELESS gaming headset struggles to deliver consistent sound, it still creates an overall immersive audio experience that is fully customizable using the included iCUE companion software. This headset works best for PC gamers but still offers wireless connectivity to the PS5 using the included wireless dongle. It is, unfortunately, not compatible with Xbox gaming consoles.

The Corsair offers a very comfortable fit thanks to breathable fabric ear cups with thick padding and a unique ski bad headband that molds to your head shape. It’s also lightweight at just 0.8 pounds. This headset includes a clear, integrated microphone but lacks any kind of call or playback controls directly on the headset. Unfortunately, the Corsair also features a disappointingly short 13-hour battery life.

Reason to Buy

  • Customizable Audio Quality
    • The Corsair HS80’s audio quality is good enough for most gamers out of the box, but the headphones are compatible with Corsair’s iCUE customization software, so you can easily adjust frequency levels to your liking and preferences.

    • The headphones also include built-in audio EQ presets, through which you can cycle by pressing the volume dial on the ear cup. These presets emphasize different audio levels for specific purposes, like bass-heavy music or in-game voice clarity.

  • Comfortable, Adjustable Fit
    • The Corsair HS80 headset is incredibly comfortable, with thick padding on the ear cups. The padding is covered in a fabric material instead of faux leather, which tends to be longer-lasting and more breathable.

    • The headband sports a unique ski-band design that gives you a more customized fit to your head shape while preventing fatigue. The ski-band design is easily adjustable, as well.

  • Great Microphone Quality
    • If you’re constantly chatting with team members in-game, you’ll enjoy the Corsair HS80’s integrated microphone. It isn’t detachable, but it captures your voice with crystal-clear quality and even blocks out ambient noise.

    • Microphone Sound Quality rates 7.9 out of 10.0

Reason to Avoid

  • Inconsistent Audio Quality
    • The Corsair HS80’s biggest struggle is delivering consistent audio quality, especially in the low bass range. As such, you may find your game audio lacks that rumble and thump you may expect.

    • A poor fit makes This inconsistency worse, so you may need to constantly readjust your headphones to get better sound quality, which can be annoying.

  • Lacks Music and Call Controls
    • This gaming headset only offers the ear cup’s volume control and power buttons. It unfortunately lacks any kind of music playback or phone call controls. As such, you’ll need to adjust those options directly on your smartphone or gaming console.

  • Disappointing Battery Life
    • The Corsair offers a mediocre battery life of just 13 hours on a single charge. This has a shorter battery life than most other wireless gaming headsets available today and directly results in shorter gaming sessions before needing to recharge.
