The Coleman Sundome tent is considered one of the best tents on the market. It is ideal for both cold weather camping, as well as car camping. While it is not as fantastic as a hiking/backpacking tent due to its weight, it will help maximize the comfort of any camping trip. The Sundome tent is easy setup and breakdown, and can easily fit a queen size air mattress. If you are trying to travel lightly on your camping trip, at least four mattress pads can easily fit in the dome tent.

Why We Like It – Coleman Sundome Tent

This tent is durable and sturdy. Built well, it has just about everything you can ask for in a traditional four person tent. It is easy to set up, breakdown, and several features that make your overnight stay more comfortable, including an E-port makes it easy to bring electrical power inside. The Coleman Sundome has interior pockets to keep your stuff organized and has dual zipper doors to keep the bugs out but let in the air.

  • Weathertec system; waterproof design
  • Easy setup
  • Roomy inside with six-foot-high ceiling
  • No footprint included
  • Too heavy as a backpacking tent

The Coleman Sundome Tent is a great camping tent for two people to four people. While it boasts being able to accommodate five to six people, the optimal use is as a four person tent. The tent has 11 mm flexible fiberglass tent poles, and the tent body is constructed from highly durable polyester taffeta. This dome tent will make your camping trip more enjoyable all around. The carry bag makes it easier to maneuver and tote, as well as store away. You can add a waterproof coating, but it is not necessary with the tents weatherproof Wethertec System.

The tent is made out of high-quality polyester taffeta, as well as rain fly. It is designed to keep the bugs and weather out and ensure that all of your belongings stay dry in inclement weather. Designed to withstands 35+ mile per hour winds, the dome tent has a high four person tent review when aked how it withstands the elements. The Weathertec System, along with the welded seams, makes it watertight. In addition, 11mm fiberglass tent poles make setup a breeze and the 10×10 foot interior space can accommodate two to five people comfortably.

The Coleman Sundome Tent is worth the price. You get a high quality constructed tent made with waterproof materials. While it is not as light as the Nemo Equipment Losi Tent, it is a fraction of the price. The same is true about the Kelty TN2 Tent. In comparison, the weight is close to the same as the Big Agnes Flying Diamond 8, but the price in not even close. Sure, the Big Agnes is designed to accommodate eight people, you can buy two of the Coleman and still save a significant amount of money.

Coleman Sundome Tent Wrap Up

The Coleman Sundome Tent is definitely a good price for the design and construction of the tent. While it is heavy, and not ideal for a backpacking tent, it is perfect for tent or backyard camping. It does not include a footprint, but most tents do not, especially at this price point. A tarp would be just as sufficient if needed at all with the welded and inverted seams. Overall this is a good tent.
