Apple’s first foldable iPhone is real, it’s orderable, and it starts at $1,999. Pre-orders opened October 16, 2026, with the device available October 23 in more than 70 countries, according to Apple.
The base $1,999 gets you 256GB of storage. From there, 512GB runs $2,199, 1TB hits $2,599, and the 2TB model lands at $3,199. If that feels steep, Apple lists installment pricing from $83.29 per month over 24 months. An Apple Upgrade lease option starts at $57.99 monthly, according to Apple’s U.S. purchase page.
Carrier trade-in promotions may cut as much as $1,200 off your effective cost, according to 9to5Mac. Pick the storage tier that reflects how you actually use a phone, not the one that looks impressive on paper.
What You’re Actually Getting
On paper, the Duo’s specs read like two phones folded into one.
The Duo pairs a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer display with a 7.6-inch folding inner screen, giving you a conventional phone form factor that opens into something closer to a small tablet. The A20 Pro chip includes a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU, and dual 16-core Neural Engines.
On the camera side, a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera handle rear imaging. An under-display FaceTime camera sits on the inner screen alongside a Center Stage front camera. Apple claims up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display and up to 44 hours on the outer one; independent battery and durability testing had not been identified in sources reviewed as of October 16, 2026.
Software adapts around the hardware. iOS adjusts as you fold, unfold, rotate, or switch displays, with Split View multitasking available on the larger inner screen. StandBy mode operates on either display, even without charging. The titanium frame and hinge cover, ProMotion technology, Dynamic Island, and Camera Control round out the feature list.
Ordering and Availability
Pre-orders are open now, though high-traffic periods may slow the checkout process.
Pre-orders are live through Apple’s website and the Apple Store app. MacRumors notes that high-traffic periods may produce preparation or availability screens rather than an active checkout option. Additional markets are scheduled to receive the device beginning October 30.
The Duo is positioned for users who prioritize screen real estate for content consumption and productivity. Browse iPhone accessories to complement your new device. Independent benchmark and durability results are expected in the weeks following the October 23 availability date.
