A wearable device that overheats against your face and ear is a fundamentally different safety problem than a phone that runs hot in your pocket. A phone stays in your pocket; these smart glasses rest directly against your skin. That is the situation INMO International Technology Limited and U.S. regulators are addressing with a formal recall of the Air3 smart glasses, announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission on September 24, 2026.
The Scope of the Problem
The recall covers roughly 1,763 units across the United States and Canada, following 10 confirmed U.S. reports of overheating.
Approximately 1,643 units sold in the United States are affected, along with around 120 units sold in Canada. These glasses moved through Amazon, INMO’s own website, and Kickstarter between December 2025 and August 2026, at prices ranging from approximately $900 to $1,300.
INMO has received 10 U.S. reports of overheating, including reports of a burning sensation on users’ faces and on the left side of their ears. The CPSC identifies the hazard as a potential risk of serious injury or death from burns. Health Canada noted no reported incidents or injuries in Canada as of September 17, 2026.

Is Your Pair Affected?
The recalled Air3 glasses are black, with “AIR3” and “INMO” printed on a label located on the right temple. For broader context on the evolving Smart Glasses category, manufacturers across the industry are racing to address both features and safety.
If that description matches what you own, stop using the glasses immediately. The CPSC’s guidance applies to every unit within the recall range, not only those that have already shown symptoms.
The left temple is identified as the area that can overheat during extended use. The recall materials do not specify the precise technical component responsible, and no further explanation is warranted based on the available official notices.
What You Need to Do
INMO is offering a firmware update to version V3.16, delivered as a free online system update, and owners must contact the company to arrange it before resuming use.
The recall notices describe an online update rather than a return shipment. Owners should contact INMO directly for instructions on completing the process. Do not put the glasses back on until the update is confirmed complete.
Reaching INMO takes one of three steps. U.S. owners can email [email protected] or call 888-212-9620, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time. INMO’s recall support page is also available for direct access.
Canadian owners should follow Health Canada’s guidance and update the firmware to version 3.16 before using the glasses again. Health Canada confirmed no Canadian incidents had been reported as of September 17, 2026, but the stop-use instruction applies regardless.
The fix is free and delivered remotely, but it requires you to initiate contact with INMO first. The full CPSC recall notice is available at cpsc.gov and includes complete product identification details, contact information, and remedy instructions. Do not resume use of the Air3 glasses until INMO confirms that version V3.16 has been successfully applied to your device.
