ASUS just released its refreshed ROG Zephyrus lineup, and it’s serving both substance and style in equal measure. The Taiwanese tech giant claims the new G14 and G16 models deliver 50% more performance per watt than their predecessors, all while maintaining that signature slim profile that lets you bring gaming muscle to a coffee shop without requiring a chiropractor visit afterward. It’s the kind of smart upgrade that earns its place among today’s Best Laptops.

Sleek Design That Finally Means Business

The standout design shift? A sleek white option that makes the Zephyrus look more like premium business hardware than something you’d hide when your boss walks by. The CNC aluminum chassis features that distinctive diagonal slash lighting that cuts across the lid—subtle when off, eye-catching when activated. At 3.3 pounds for the G14, it’s lighter than some productivity laptops despite packing serious gaming hardware.

Colorways That Speak Volumes

The new ROG models offer options for different personalities in both Eclipse Gray and Platinum White. The dark model maintains that classic gamer aesthetic with a more refined approach, while the white version screams, “I’m an adult with taste who happens to game” rather than “I live on energy drinks and never see sunlight.” The minimalist keyboard layout and clean lines make these devices you could confidently use in any setting.

Hardware That Breaks Performance Barriers

ASUS packed the G14 with up to an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor sporting 12 cores and a dedicated NPU capable of 50 TOPS of AI processing. Graphics options top out at the RTX 5080, which seems almost excessive for a 14-inch laptop until you remember this thing has to drive a 3K 120Hz OLED display.

The Bigger Sibling Steps Up

The larger G16 swaps AMD for Intel Core Ultra 9 processors and officially supports up to an RTX 5090, though most retail models top out at RTX 5070 or 5070 Ti. Both machines support up to 64GB of RAM and 2TB of storage, putting desktop replacement territory in a package you can, you know, replace your desktop with. The G16 also boasts a six-speaker system that adds noticeable audio punch over the G14.

Cool Under Pressure When It Counts

Previous Zephyrus models sometimes felt like they were one intense gaming session away from doubling as a panini press. The 2025 models supposedly solve this with tri-fan cooling and liquid metal thermal paste. This isn’t just marketing fluff—ASUS redesigned the entire internal layout to create what they call “Stealth Hinge” cooling that directs heat away from both the OLED display and your lap.

The G14 starts at $1,800 in the US (pricing may vary by region and configuration), putting it well above budget gaming laptops but still hundreds less than Apple’s MacBook Pro 14, with significantly more gaming capability. Both the Eclipse Gray and Platinum White models will hit shelves on June 25th.
