    Our Verdict

The Roborock S7 Maxv is an outstanding robot vacuum that excels in bare floor cleaning performance. With an impressive 99.145% of debris cleaned up from bare floors, it’ll keep vinyl, hardwood, and tile nearly spotless. This high-end performance is complemented by its strong pet hair cleaning ability, picking up 80.665% of pet hair and a strong 82.36% of carpet debris.

Noise is moderate, coming in at 69.96 dB, which makes it about as loud as washing machines. It’ll disrupt conversations and might scare pets, but it’s not earsplitting and far from conventionally “loud.” The bin capacity of the Maxv is decent at 0.11 gal, but including a self-emptying feature means that you won’t have to worry about emptying the vacuum since it’s capable of doing it itself! The MaxV also hits a battery life of 153.5 minutes, which means it’ll rarely have to stop and charge, even when cleaning larger homes.

The inclusion of Amazon Alexa makes hands-free operation possible, and a HEPA helps reduce sneezing and irritation that vacuuming might normally create. Room-by-room navigation and auto docking & recharging round out the feature set of the MaxV, making it very well-rounded and extremely convenient to use.

The biggest drawback of the Roborock S7 Maxv is its price; it’s among the more expensive options offered by Roborock, but it delivers on its price tag. With excellent cleaning performance on hard floors and strong carpet and pet hair clean-up, as well as a self-emptying feature and long battery life, it’s an easy choice for a robot vacuum that prioritizes performance and quality of life.

DON’T SEE WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING FOR?

For those seeking alternatives to Roborock vacuums, upright vacuums offer a powerful and versatile cleaning solution. Upright vacuums are particularly effective for deep cleaning carpets and large floor areas due to their strong suction power and wide cleaning paths. They often come with adjustable settings and a variety of attachments, allowing you to clean different surfaces such as hardwood, tile, and upholstery efficiently.

Another excellent alternative is canister vacuums, which provide flexibility and maneuverability, especially in homes with mixed flooring types. Canister vacuums separate the motor and dustbin from the cleaning head, making them lighter and easier to handle. This design is beneficial for cleaning stairs, under furniture, and other hard-to-reach areas.

Vacuum Cleaner Test Data & Results

1. Bare Floor Performance Test Results

As the name suggests, bare floor performance references how well a vacuum does when it’s cleaning up tiles, vinyl planks, or hardwood flooring. Debris comes in a variety of sizes of course, and much of the testing revolves around picking up debris that ranges in size from cereal to bits of dirt to sand to a mix of everything above and more.

We recommend that a vacuum be able to pick up at least 90% of debris from a bare floor to ensure you end up with clean floors. Hitting a perfect score is obviously ideal, but the worse a vacuum performs here, the more work you need to do sweeping up or re-vacuuming. Missing debris is frustrating, and can invite pests if you miss bits of food, or annoyance if you step on something barefoot and hurt yourself.

2. Battery Life (mins) Test Results

Robot vacuum cleaners can only run for so long before their battery dies. Some models feature an auto-dock feature that sends the unit home before the battery dies, while others choose to wander under your couch and die. A longer battery life helps reduce the likelihood of a unit dying before it finishes its job, and helps reduce the overall time it takes to clean your home by taking fewer “rest stops” to charge.

Your robot vacuum should have a least a battery life of 60 minutes, but longer is always appreciated. Low battery life doesn’t overly impact performance, but it does greatly increase the amount of time it takes for your robot vacuum to clean anything, given it’ll have to keep pausing to charge.

Best Roborock Vacuum: Mistakes To Avoid

  1. Disregarding Suction Power and Cleaning Performance: Choosing a model without considering its suction power can lead to poor cleaning performance, especially on carpets or with pet hair. Ensure the Roborock vacuum you choose has strong suction power (measured in Pascals, or Pa) and is suitable for the types of surfaces in your home.

  2. Ignoring Maintenance Requirements: Not considering the maintenance needs can lead to frustration. Check how easy it is to empty the dustbin, clean the filters, and maintain the brushes. Some Roborock models come with self-cleaning brushes and easy-to-access dustbins, simplifying maintenance.

  3. Not Checking for Smart Features: Overlooking smart features can limit the vacuum’s convenience and functionality. Look for models with Wi-Fi connectivity, app control, voice control compatibility (Alexa, Google Assistant), and advanced mapping features. These can greatly enhance your experience by allowing for remote control, scheduling, and real-time monitoring.

  4. Underestimating Noise Levels: Choosing a model without considering its noise level can be disruptive, especially in quiet environments. Check the noise level (measured in decibels) to ensure it won’t be too loud during operation, especially if you have a home office or young children.
