Roborock S7 MaxV offers top-tier cleaning and navigation with dual-spectrum mapping. While it excels at bare floor cleaning and advanced mopping, the high cost and limited liquid mopping should be considered. The lack of HEPA filtration disappoints.

Consensus

our Verdict

The Roborock S7 MaxV delivers on its promise of a convenient cleaning experience. Navigation is advanced with dual-spectrum mapping, precise movement, and obstacle avoidance. Noise is average at 65 dB, and cleaning efficiency is over 91% on mixed surfaces. The tested 5100 Pa suction rating is good. Battery life is an impressive 180 minutes. However, pet hair pickup is just 58% on carpets. Mopping is effective but leaves wet areas. Its intuitive, convenient app offers 3D mapping, no-go zones, and video calling.

The S7 MaxV’s mop pad and debris bag replacement costs and upfront price are downsides, but its ultra-sonic vibrating mop makes it a compelling choice for those seeking a top-tier robot vacuum and mop. The S8+ lacks a HEPA filter and doesn’t filter out allergens.

Reason to Buy

  • Advanced navigation with LIDAR and 3D scanning
  • Exceptional bare floor cleaning performance for debris and pet hair
  • Effective ultrasonic mopping for tackling dried-on stains
  • Versatile video call and security camera options through the companion app
  • Compatible with self-cleaning and self-emptying base stations
  • Long, over 3-hour tested battery life

Reason to Avoid

  • Some parts require regular cleaning when used as a standalone vacuum
  • Relatively ineffective 58% pet hair pickup on carpet
  • Incurs high recurring costs
  • Poor air filtration
  • Lacks automatic water tank refilling

Compared to the Roborock Q7 Max+, the S7 MaxV has a higher-rated suction of 5100 Pa instead of 4200 Pa and more sophisticated smart mapping with object avoidance. It also differentiates itself with a vibrating mop feature, helping it eliminate stains on tile floors more easily. See our Roborock Q7 Max+ review for more details.

Compared to the Roborock Q Revo, another high-end self-emptying robot vacuum, the S7 Max V has a larger dustbin of 400 mL instead of 350 mL and a larger water tank of 200 mL vs. 80 mL. However, the newer Q Revo has a slightly higher rated suction of 5500 Pa. The Q Revo robot vac also has more smart app features, like automatic tank refilling and mop washing. However, it lacks the S7 MaxV’s high-speed sonic mopping feature. See our Roborock Q Revo review to learn more.

Compared to the iRobot Roomba j7+, the Roborock S7 MaxV has more sophisticated object avoidance and surveillance capabilities thanks to its additional LIDAR sensor. The S7 MaxV also has a more powerful suction motor, but the Roomba j7+ filters out allergens better thanks to its HEPA filter. See our iRobot Roomba j7+ review for more details.
