Consensus

our Verdict

Analysts were impressed by the iRobot Roomba j7+, recommending it for high-pile carpets and bare floors. Researchers at CNET hailed its advanced self-emptying system.

The HEPA filtration system prevented the leakage of allergens during experiments. Like all robot vacuums, however, it doesn’t have tools for cleaning upholstery.

Check out the Kenmore Intuition Bagged review if you need a whole-home cleaning system with various attachments. Testers at ZDNet were pleased with this robot’s battery life, which averaged 102 minutes during tests.

Although experts found its suction to be below 0.01 kPA, it picked up a superb 88% of the large debris on bare floors and 65% on high-pile carpets during tests. Reviewers were pleased by its relatively low 63.0 dBA noise rating.

It has mapping functions, cleaning in a pattern and features an effective camera-led obstacle avoidance system. Its 0.25L internal dirt cup, which empties into a larger 2.4L dirtbag, pleased testers.

However, it requires purchasing new dirtbags regularly, and he iRobot Roomba S9 uses a more economical wahsable dirt compartment.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Self-emptying system
  • Anti-allergy HEPA filter
  • Excellent battery life
  • Large sized 2.4L dirt bag
  • Camera-based navigation system

Reason to Avoid

  • Expensive non-reusable dirt bags
  • Poor pet hair pickup on hard floors
