The EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid in-ear headphones are an entry-level pick that gamers will appreciate because of the low latency when using its USB dongle. Overall, the buds are comfortable for long gaming sessions but lack ANC and have a poor soundstage.

Overview

The EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid earbuds are entry-level gaming earbuds that were first announced in early 2021. They have excellent build quality courtesy of their use of high-grade plastic, and they also have an IPX5 rating for water resistance.

While they don’t feature Active Noise Canceling, they ship with four ear tips for varied comfort and a USB-C dongle for non-Bluetoooth connections. This alone makes it stand out from the best headphones on the market.

Both call and music management are done through a physical button on the left earbud, but there’s no mute/unmute setting for the microphone.

That said, its battery yields up to 20 hours of listening time, plus 15 more hours with the case included. The nine-band graphic EQ on its companion software is more intricate than what some of the top-rated wireless earbuds have to offer, but there’s no support for NFC pairing.

our Verdict

The EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid earbuds are a small set of lightweight and well-constructed in-ear headphones that offer a well-balanced sound profile and low bass levels that offer a rumble that low bass heads may appreciate.

They also have a comfortable fit thanks to their multiple-size in-ear buds. They. Still, the sound quality can be customized through the easy-to-use EPOS Gaming Suite on computers.

Another downside is its poor continuous battery life, which only lasts 3.2 hours. On the flip side, its Bluetooth connectivity has very low latency for both iOS and Android connections through its USB dongle, facilitating seamless streaming.

Unfortunately, these earbuds don’t feature ANC, and they have a very small passive soundstage. They also miss out on onboard volume controls.

The EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid wireless earbuds ship with a USB dongle for non-Bluetooth connections, but this is not the case with the EPOS GTW 270 wireless earbuds, as they are only capable of Bluetooth connectivity. Another difference between the two is that the 270 Hybrid earbuds can be used for wireless gaming with PS5 and PS4 consoles, while the GTW 270 is limited to tablets, PCs, and mobile phones.

The EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid Truly Wireless earbuds miss out on noise canceling, which is a feature that the Apple AirPods Pro Truly Wireless has. However, their sound leakage performance is slightly better than the Apple AirPods Pro, and its companion app has a graphic equalizer for sound adjustments, while the AirPods Pro does not. The GTW 270’s also support multi-device connectivity which the AirPods miss out on, and they also ship with a USB-C dongle for non-Bluetooth connections.

Unfortunately, the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid earbuds don’t have any mute or unmute controls for its integrated microphone. It also lacks a volume switch and doesn’t support noise canceling. These are all features that the Jabra Elite 7 Active True Wireless has, but on the other hand, the EPOS earbuds are capable of virtual surround sound while the Jabra Elite 7 Active is not.
