Consensus

our Verdict

Product testers love the bass-heavy sound profile (especially when wall-mounted) and the suite of connectivity options of the Devialet Dione, approving it for music, TV dialogue, and movies.

Experts at What Hifii love its boomy sound profile that will please music and movie enthusiasts. The Verge adores its loud output, which fills up large home theaters. Its stand-alone phantom arrangement supports Dolby Atmos, but its performance with 5.1 surround sound is average.

In addition to its huge selection of wired connectors, the system boasts Bluetooth and Apple Airplay, so it’s quite versatile. A mobile app allows users to change their settings and access equalizer presets, but there’s no bass adjustment option.

Check out our Harman Kardon Enchant 1300 review for bass adjustment, and see SOUNDBOKS (Gen. 3) review if you prefer a party speaker. Our onn 42” 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos Soundbar review discusses an option with multiple HDMI inputs.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Fairly well-balanced sound quality
    • This soundbar is good for mixed usage but excels at TV shows. Its room correction feature balances the sound profile quite well, so dialogue, vocals, and instruments are clear, and there is ample bass. Another option with strong bass is our SOUNDBOKS (Gen. 3) review

  • Satisfactory voice clarity
    • The soundbar has satisfactory voice clarity with a discrete center channel and balanced treble and mids. But the bass-heavy sound takes away from the overall clarity.

  • Strong bass
    • Bass is strong on this soundbar, and you’ll have satisfying thumps and rumbles during action scenes and bass-heavy music.

  • Immersive Atmos
    • The stereo soundstage is satisfactory, and the Atmos, despite lacking rumble, is fairly immersive.

  • Subpar surround performance
    • The side-firing speakers on the bar don’t create an immersive surround experience, and sounds feel like they’re emerging from the front rather than all around you.

Reason to Avoid

  • No Full HDMI In and high latency
    • The lack of a Full HDMI In input means this soundbar can’t function as an HDMI hub between multiple devices. You also experience some audio lag because of the high latency over Optical (109 ms) and eARC (125 ms), which is among the highest we’ve seen. For better connectivity options, read our onn 42” 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos Soundbar review

  • No remote, display, and voice assistants
    • Interacting with this soundbar can feel inconvenient because it is missing a remote, display, and voice assistants.

  • No remote, display, and voice assistants
    • Interacting with this soundbar can feel inconvenient because it is missing a remote, display, and voice assistants.
