The Yamaha YAS-109 offers low latency and a powerful sound profile, though bass lovers may be disappointed by its limited bass range. It excels for TV shows and dialogue but has poor surround sound performance.

Product Snapshot
Overview
The Yamaha YAS-109 is a basic soundbar that was first announced in mid-2019. Its soundstage is slightly wider than the bar, so the audio sounds like it is being projected from the center.
Since it doesn’t come with a subwoofer, its low-bass output isn’t impressive. The best speakers for a thumpy bass output are those that ship with a subwoofer and consist of a 3,4, or 5-channel setup.
The YAS-109 also doesn’t support Dolby Atmos content, so its not the best option for an immersive listening experience.
Its wireless capabilities include Bluetooth & Wi-Fi connectivity, but unlike the best soundbars, it doesn’t work with Chromecast or Apple AirPlay. Its physical inputs include an Optical Audio In port, three HDMI ports, and an Ethernet port.
Owners will also be able to control the soundbar through Amazon Alexa or its phone app, the Yamaha Sound Bar Controller, making it much more convenient.
Consensus
our Verdict
The Yamaha YAS-109 offers impressively low latency, ensuring a seamless audio-visual experience for owners without any synchronization issues.
While this entry-level soundbar boasts a powerful and resonant sound profile, it may fall short for bass enthusiasts longing for the deep rumble and thunder that truly immerses them in movies or music.
Nevertheless, it excels when it comes to watching TV shows or dialogue-focused content, thanks to its impeccably balanced mid-range that delivers crystal-clear vocals.
To further enhance the audio experience, the soundbar provides EQ presets for personalized sound customization. With its reliable Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, most users can effortlessly connect their devices without encountering any connectivity hiccups.
Regrettably, its surround sound performance leaves something to be desired.

The surround sound performance of the Yamaha YAS-109 is outmatched by that of the Sonos Beam since the Beam is a 3-channel soundbar. The Sonos Beam also ships with a HDMI cable which is missing on the YAS-109; however, the YAS-109 includes a Digital Optical Cable, which you don’t get with the Sonos Beam.
