Despite great latency, surround sound and Atmos support, and frequency adjustment, the Vizio SB36312-G6’s mid-range price doesn’t justify the imbalanced sound profile and subpar surround sound and Atmos. The soundbar is middling for movies, but if you have the patience, some frequency tweaking improves it.

Product Snapshot
Overview
Vizio SB36312-G6 is a mid-range 3.1.2 soundbar that was released in 2019, promising Dolby Atmos for TVs. The sound system has a bass-heavy sound profile and a dedicated subwoofer that is great for EDM music and movies.
Out of the box, this sound profile might not be the best for all music genres, but there are three equalizer presets for tweaking settings.
Although it supports Dolby Atmos and DTS content, this system has a middling surround performance, downmixing surround to stereo, so it’s not the best choice for movies. Check out the top speakers to explore more options.
It has low audio latency, so the audio and video feed sync flawlessly, and users will be pleased with its suite of wireless streaming tech, which includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and the built-in Chromecast.
It also has a decent number of wired connectivity options, including optical, HDMI ARC+Out, full HDMI in, USB, and Ethernet. This system has a top SPL of 88.1 dB, so it doesn’t get very loud.
It has a mobile app for controlling settings. Explore below to learn more about the Vizio SB36312-G6, and check out our best-rated soundbars today.
Consensus
our Verdict
The Vizio SB36312-G6 connects smoothly and with zero popping or crackling sounds from the speakers. Its tested latency is low using wired connections (52ms through ARC and 62ms through Optical).
The soundstage has average width, and the sound profile is very bass-heavy, reducing dialogue and music clarity and the surround sound preciseness.
Atmos performance is poor because it’s downmixed to stereo, thereby lacking accuracy. The remote has complete control over the system, but despite having a display, there’s poor visibility.
Build quality feels durable, but the fabric wrappings on the soundbar and subwoofer feel fragile. Although you can adjust the bass and treble, there are only three EQ presets. There is a smartphone app to control the system that’s easier to use than the remote, but it’s not the smoothest.
