The Pioneer AVH-1300NEX, also known as the Pioneer AVH-1400NEX is an affordable car stereo with some excellent features. This multimedia receiver is compatible with Apple Carplay, and can also handle audio streaming services like Spotify. It also has the usual functions of a touch screen, hands-free calling, and a DVD receiver.

This Pioneer head unit can push out 50-watts x 4 and has a dedicated subwoofer control. If you add Idatalink Maestro, you can even get it to support your controls like steering wheel controls and backup camera. The Appradio mode allows you to integrate your apps like contacts and calendars from Apple phones. The AVH-1400NEX even supports satellite HD radio stations like SiriusXM and Pandora. DVD video input comes as standard so you can enjoy both audio playback and video playback. If you don’t need Apple Carplay, the Boss Audio BV9358B might be a better option.


Pioneer is known for its fantastic design and great customer service. The AVH-1300NEX is well-designed and the 6.2-inch touchscreen is user-friendly. This head unit is designed to play your music from, CDs, USB, DVD, streaming services, Satellite Radio, and Bluetooth. It also supports many digital media file formats including MP3, WAV, AVI, WMA, and FLAC files. The design of this stereo is that it’s compatible with add-on units and apps. This means you can easily increase its capabilities to have on-board navigation or a rear view camera. Unfortunately, this stereo doesn’t support Android Auto like the ATOTO A6.
