The LG SL10YG produces incredibly detailed extended low bass, winning plaudits as one of the better 5.1 soundbars for movies, games, and music. This device is remarkably loud, but movie lovers should note that this unit’s 3D surround soundstage is average.

Product Snapshot

Overview

The LG SL10YG is a high-end 5.1.2 channel soundbar that was released in 2019, delivering Dolby Atmos and high-end smart features for TVs. This system gets pretty loud, like most devices on our list of the top speakers on the market.

With a suite of smart features like built-in Google Assistant and a mobile app, this device is quite intuitive. An outstanding sound profile and a dedicated sub deliver outstanding music and epic bass-heavy audio in movies.

In addition to Bluetooth, this system boasts a built-in Chromecast for streaming from Android devices. A USB port accommodates storage drives, and the system boasts HDMI ARC, HDMI out, and two full HDMI in ports, letting users switch easily between various connected devices.

The only notable pain point for users is the disappointing surround soundstage, so users will not get the kind of immersive performance that is common on other 5.1 soundbars.

Consensus

our Verdict

Top experts were excited by the near neutral frequency response range of frequency response range and loud output of the LG SL10YG, endorsing it for music, movies, and TV dialogue.

Editors at PCMag love its subwoofer, which produces powerful bass, adding some buzz to music and action movie scenes. Testers from What Hifi hailed its loud output, which easily fills a large room.

With a dedicated center speaker, this device performs well with the TV dialogue, although the phantom-style phantom projection doesn’t provide as good a surround soundstage as soundbars with satellite speakers.

It supports Dolby Atmos and it has an incredible range of inputs. However, its latency is a bit high, so you may notice some slight delay in the audio feed.

However, If you require a more affordable 3.1.2 channel system, check out our LG SL6Y review and see our LG SN6Y review if you are sensitive to audio lag.
