The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Stage soundbar doesn’t quite up its offering to its high ticket price, as it misses out on a low-range bass output and a satisfying surround sound experience. However, it has good wireless connectivity.

Product Snapshot

Overview

The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Stage is a premium 3.0 channel soundbar that was first released in late 2019. Like the best speakers around, it also supports many audio formats, including Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby Digital.

This support allows for better surround sound performance, creating a slightly more immersive listening experience. Its port selection is also good, sporting three HDMI ports, two Ethernet ports, and an AUX port for wired device connections.

The speaker supports both Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity and also has Chromecast built-in. These are the kinds of connectivity options to expect from some of the best soundbars, the best wireless soundbar, or the best wireless speaker for TVs.

Its connectivity options surpass those of the Bomaker Odine II (which we covered in our Bomaker Odine II review).

Consensus

our Verdict

Even though the top-tier Bang & Olufsen Beosound Stage struggles to produce a strong bass output, its sound can be adjusted to emphasize vocals or bass depth when listening to music, playing movies, or watching TV shows with a lot of dialogue through its easy-to-use app.

Its stereo soundstage also sounds a little wider than the bar itself for added immersion. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a subwoofer, but the Hisense HS218 does, per our Hisense HS218 review.

Its tested, low 43ms latency o facilitates in-sync audio-visual content, and its excellent wireless connectivity through Bluetooth, WiFi, Chromecast, and Apple AirPlay is great for problem-free streaming.

However, despite lacking an Optical Audio In port, it boasts a wide port selection and support for many audio formats.

Reason to Buy

  • Great sound quality
    • The Beosound Stage is great for music and movie watching as it has a very well-balanced sound profile, with vocals and instrumentals clearly reproduced. It also has an Eq for sound adjustment.

  • Good voice clarity
    • Vocals on the Beosound Stage are clear and precise, making it ideal for dialogue-focused content.

  • Smart features and connectivity
    • The Besound Stage supports both Bluetooth and WiFi for seamless wireless streaming, and in terms of wired connectivity, the soundbar has two Ethernet ports, an HDMI ARC/eARC port, and a 3.5mm audio port. Its tested 38ms latency ensures that audio-visuals are well in sync, which places it among the top 25% of soundbars in its category. However, there’s no support for Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, and its app is not as user-intuitive.

  • Gets loud
    • The Beosound Stage has a tested max volume rating of 92dB, placing it in the top 20% of our certified tested soundbars.

Reason to Avoid

  • Virtual surround sound output
    • The soundbar lacks up-firing height-channel speakers and dedicated surround sound drivers, so its output is not as immersive.

  • Poor bass output
    • The soundbar’s bass output is unsatisfactory, and it also doesn’t ship with a subwoofer. Check out our Hisense HS218 review for an alternative that does.

  • Doesn’t ship with a remote
    • This soundbar also doesn’t ship with a remote, so users will have to buy one separately.

The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Stage soundbar might appeal to buyers because of its high-end build and its capacity to get loud. However, it is designed for home use while the Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 Gen 2 speaker happens to be a more portable alternative. Also, the A1 Gen 2 has support for speakerphone functionality and a voice assistant while the Beosound Stage soundbar does not.
