The Shark Vertex UltraLight Corded pleased testers with how easy it was to maneuver and its performance on bare floors. Reviewers liked that it had an LED display and LED floor lighting.
They were, however, disappointed with its missing HEPA filter, its low suction force, and its inability to handle fine debris on low pile rugs.
The Shark Vertex UltraLight Corded is a mid-tier stick vacuum cleaner announced in 2020. It has a standard 0.4-liter dirt compartment and excellent maneuverability thanks to its 9.61-pound weight.
Its 78.3-decibel noise level is as low as some of the best vacuum cleaners on the market. It is equipped with a foam filter, pre, and post-motor filter to filter out allergens, and a rotating head that allows it to clean around obstacles.
It also has two floor settings for users to choose, where there’s “Bare Floor” and “Carpet.” It does not have a battery like the Shark Vertex Pro, but its 29.53-ft cord is long enough to provide a good range of movement when cleaning.
The Shark Vertex UltraLight Corded was praised by testers for its ability to clean bare floors and pet hair. Testing results from Rtings showed that the vacuum cleaner picked 93% and 100% of large and small debris on hard floors, respectively.
They also liked that it could eliminate 94% of pet hair from bare floors, 100% of animal fur from low pile rugs, and 97% of pet dander from high pile carpets.
Product testers from Real Homes also liked that it has LED floor lights for illumination.
However, reviewers didn’t like its lack of a HEPA filter, which t the Simplicity S65S has. (Check out our Simplicity S65S review for more details).
They also didn’t appreciate the constant user maintenance that many of its parts would require and its poor handling of fine debris on low pile carpet.
Its 0.42 kPa suction force was also low compared to the 150-watt suction power rating that we quoted in our Panasonic New Hybrid Vacuum review.
