our Verdict

Top critics praised the IKEA SYMFONISK Speaker lamp, endorsing it for music and podcasts. Testers at RTINGS loved its Wi-Fi tech and super-low 5 ms AirPlay latency, which is suitable for movies, but this model doesn’t support Google Chromecast.

Reviewers at SlashGear liked its EQ and wide 46.2Hz to 18.5Khz frequency response range. The 0.88 slope is evidence of a well-balanced sound profile. Analysts liked its decent bass, although it may not be adequate for hip-hop music fanatics.

Check out the Sonos Five review if you need better-extended low-bass. The Speaker lamp gets fairly loud, achieving an 87.8 dB maximum SPL, but the 5.27 dB tested DRC shows significant sound compression at the highest volume.

With a 3.00 dB directivity index, this unit offered a wide soundstage during testing. However, it doesn’t support any voice assistants. Weighing 5.5 lbs during experiments, this unit is fairly portable, but it doesn’t have speakerphone features and doesn’t support stereo.

The IKEA SYMFONISK Speaker lamp has lamp and speaker functionality, unlike the Sonos One SL, which is exclusively a speaker. The Speaker lamp also produces more extended low-bass than the One SL. Unlike the IKEA SYMFONISK Speaker lamp, which connects via Wi-Fi, the JBL Charge 5 uses Bluetooth, connecting to a broader range of devices. The JBL also has a built-in rechargeable battery and features a waterproof, dustproof design, so it’s more suitable for on-the-go use than the Speaker lamp.
