This expensive Samsung Outdoor TV offers excellent value for money, as it has features that make it ideal for any use case. It is worth the high price, but options with better viewing angles and VRR support exist.

Overview

The Samsung LED Outdoor Full Sun 4K TV, or the Samsung The Terrace TV offers a sharp 4K resolution for vivid imagery and a high contrast ratio of 49,253:1 bolstered by full-array local dimming.

It boasts a peak HDR brightness rating of 1845 nits and supports a wide color gamut courtesy of its 94.2% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space.

The glossy screen finish handles reflections quite well, and with a response time of 14.2ms, motion blur is heavily minimized.

Even though it has a 120Hz refresh rate, it misses out on FreeSync and G-Sync support, which is common on the best TVs, but it does have a low input lag of 4.9ms (1080p @ 120Hz) and 5.5ms (4K @ 120Hz). Also, its HDMI 2.1 port makes it compatible with the latest gaming consoles, as is common with most top-tier 4K TVs.

What the brand doesn’t always tell you…

our Verdict

The Samsung LED Outdoor Full Sun 4K TV is a well-constructed, weather-resistant model that offers a tested 1845-nit HDR brightness rating that keeps it well visible in the outdoor sun and a good port selection, consisting of three HDMI ports, 1 USB port, and HDMI 2.1 support.

It also boasts profound blacks and bright whites courtesy of its 49,253:1 contrast ratio, but it struggles with viewing angles because of its VA panel.

The TV has a relatively rapid response time of 14.2ms that keeps its motion blur minimal, and despite having a 120Hz refresh rate, it misses out on VRR support, limiting its gaming performance.

This Outdoor TV handles reflections well thanks to its glossy finish, and it doesn’t have much blooming around bright objects.

As an outdoor TV, the Samsung LED Outdoor Full Sun 4K has a much higher brightness rating of 1,8454 nits compared to the Samsung Q60B, at 473 nits. Also, the Q60B has better color accuracy out of the box, but it gets outmatched by the Samsung LED outdoor after calibration. The Samsung Outdoor TV also has better reflection handling and a 2.1 HDMI port that the Q60B does not. If you’re still interested in the Q60B, you can check it out in our Samsung Q60B QLED TV review, but if you’d like a TV that’s got an IPS display instead of a VA display, you might like our LG UQ9000 TV review.

In terms of contrast ratio, the Samsung LED Outdoor Full Sun 4K TV outperforms many of the other outdoor TV alternatives from different brands, with a superb contrast ratio of 49,253:1 compared to the Sunbrite Pro 2 LED TV, with a contrast ratio of 4000:1. However, the Sunbrite Pro 2 has a faster response time of 8ms compared to the Samsung’s 14.2ms. On the other hand, the Samsung TV has a higher 120Hz refresh rate than the Sunbrite TV’s 60hz, and its port selection is also more expansive, with three HDMI ports compared to the Sunbrite TV’s two. You can learn more about the Sunbrite TV in our SunbriteTV Pro 2 TV 4K review, but If you’re a new buyer who needs to know what to look out for, you should read our TV buying guide.

The Samsung LED Outdoor Full Sun 4K TV also compares favorably to the Sunbrite Veranda Series 4K Full Shade, as it has Quantum Dot Color while the latter does not. On top of that, it can render HDR10+ and HLG content while the Sunbrite TV cannot, and it has WiFi connectivity while the Sunbrite TV does not. The Samsung TV also offers added convenience with voice assistant support, which is missing in the Sunbrite Veranda Series TV. However, if none of these work for you and you’d instead get a much larger display, check out what we think is the best 85-inch TV, but if you only want a simple home display, then here’s our Samsung M4500 TV review.
