Consensus

our Verdict

The Epson PowerLite 810E is perfect for projecting in an office or classroom. With a brightness of 5,000 nits, it’s not easily affected by ambient light and produces clear images. It delivers high-quality visuals, as its 2,500,000:1 contrast ratio helps create accurate bright and dark colors with no rainbow artifacts, which places it in the top 25% of the category. The visuals are smooth with 4k resolution and HDR content. The content remains clear even in large sizes, up to 160 inches in 4k.

However, the projector does produce an audible noise of 35 dB when running, but this can be reduced to 25 dB by putting it in eco mode. Additionally, the keystone has great digital image correction and lens shift to support many aspect ratios clearly.

    • It offers HDR processing for viewing high-quality content and a wide range of picture sizes, supporting 4k content up to 160 inches diagonal.

  • Wide Throw Distance
    • The projector offers a large range for ideal viewing and projects large images from a short distance, as it has a throw distance of 0.9′ – 1.9′.

    • It also has a dedicated Short Throw feature to help produce quality images even when up close screen.

  • High Refresh Rate
    • The projector experiences little image blur, as it has a 2d vertical refresh rate of 192 Hz – 240 Hz.

Reason to Avoid

  • Audible Noise
    • The projector can be distracting while viewing because it has an audible noise of 35 dB. However, in eco mode, this lowers to 25 dB.

The Epson PowerLite 810E is the superior projector to the Epson Home Cinema 2350 in terms of brightness. The PowerLite gives 5,000 lumens, while the Home Cinema model only offers 2,800. Additionally, the PowerLite is designed to create better images, as it has a 3 UCLD 4k display using pixel upshifting. It also has a short throw feature to create sharp pictures in classroom-type environments.

The Home Cinema doesn’t have 4k or an enhanced short throw feature, making it more suitable for casual settings. Lastly, the PowerLite has more connectivity options, featuring 3 USB connections and 2 HDMI. On the other hand, the Home Cinema model only has one USB and 2 HDMI ports. When comparing brightness, the Epson PowerLite 810E beats out the Hisense PX1-Pro; the Epson has 5,000 lumens of peak HDR brightness compared to 2,200 lumens from Hisense. However, the Hisense has a better max resolution of 3,840 x 2,160. In contrast, the Epson only has 1920×1080. So, while the Epson gets up to 4k with pixel shifting, the Hisense has a better color gamut. Then, in terms of the inputs, the Hisense offers two USB connections, which is one less than the Epson. See how the Hisense compares to another Epson model by checking out our Epson Pro Cinema LS12000 review.

The Sony VPL-XW5000ES-B isn’t as high-end as the Epson PowerLite 810E in terms of brightness. It maxes out at 2,000 lumens, whereas the Epson reaches 5,000. However, the Sony delivers more detailed images and is better for professional settings, as it has a native 4k resolution powered by an X1 image processor that offers an Inf :1 contrast ratio, meaning near-perfect black levels. The Epson also has a 4k display that uses pixel shifting but is limited to a 2,500,000:1 contrast ratio, meaning the colors are great but not as accurate.
