Product Snapshot

Overview

First announced in early 2019, the Pohopa EF-B210G are a set of entry-level Bluetooth speakers designed to look like lanterns. As is typical with many top-rated speakers today, these 20W Pohopa speakers also feature RGB lighting and have an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance., which is a lot longer than what some of the best Bluetooth speakers on the market can last. Also worth noting is that these speakers are designed to be stationary. The JBL Charge 3 might be worth investigating if you’re looking for better portability.

Consensus

our Verdict

The Pohopa EF-B210G indoor/outdoor speakers have a sound profile that significantly emphasizes bass elements to a degree that fails to make vocals and instrumentals sound as clear as they should be. Unfortunately, there’s also no companion app that owners can use to fine-tune its sound output, but on the bright side, its sound output doesn’t distort as much at max volume. The speakers also have an easy-to-navigate control scheme and a volume output of 89.6dB, which places them in the top 30% of our certified, tested list. Inputs are also limited to an AUX and micro USB port.

Since they’re sold as a pair, the speakers can also play stereo content, and they last an exceptional 60 hours on one full 5.6-hour charge. Unfortunately, its Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity is also not ideal for video watching, as the speakers have a high 253ms and 220ms latency on both iOS and Android devices. There’s also no WiFi, voice assistant or speakerphone support. However, its 331ft Bluetooth range is exceptional.

Reason to Buy

  • Average sound quality
    • The Pohopa EF-B210G Bluetooth speakers offer a boomy sound profile that may sometimes overpower the vocals and instrumentals. Unfortunately, the sound output cannot be adjusted through any companion app.

    • On the other hand, the speakers have a volume output of 89.6dB, which places it in the top third of speakers in its category. Its sound output also does not get noticeably distorted at max volume.

  • Exceptional battery life
    • The Pohopa EF-B210G has a 60-hour battery life per testing, placing it among the top 5% of portable speakers on our certified, tested list.

  • Good build quality
    • The EF-B210G speakers have an IP54 dust and water resistance rating, making them capable of withstanding different weather elements outdoors.

Reason to Avoid

  • High Bluetooth latency
    • The Pohopa EF-B210H speakers have a high Bluetooth latency over both iOS and Android connections, so they’re not ideal for audio-visual content.

The Pohopa EF-B210G Bluetooth Speakers have a longer playtime compared to the Pohopa EF-B210S speakers. Also different is that the B210S speakers are capable of solar charging, while the B210G speakers are not. This makes them a bit more expensive than the B210G speakers.

The Pohopa EF-B210G Speakers are battery-powered, while the Sonos Era 100 speakers are not. The Pohopa speakers also have an IP54 rating for both dust and water resistance that the Sonos Era 100 speakers lack, but on the other hand, the Sonos Era 100 speaker has an equalizer that allows for both bass and treble adjustments while the Pohopa speakers do not. The Era 100 speakers also support WiFi connectivity, unlike the Pohopa speakers. Feel free to go ahead and find out what else the Era 100 speakers offer by checking out our Sonos Era 100 review.

Regarding battery life, the Pohopa Bluetooth speakers last a lot longer than the Sony SRS-XB100 speaker, which only lasts 20.7 hours. However, the Sony speaker has a shorter 3-hour charge time than the Pohopa speakers. The Sony speaker also has a companion app for sound adjustment, while the Pohopa speaker does not, so if this sounds like a deal breaker for the latter, feel free to check out our Sony SRS XB 100 review.
