Consensus

our Verdict

The impressive Samsung S95B provides outstanding picture quality with its near-infinite contrast ratio of Inf :1, which delivers stunning blacks. It has a peak brightness tested at 423 cd/m² and wide 70-degree viewing angles, making it excellent for movies and gaming.

The TV also experiences no blooming, given the individual-powered pixels, and it has a blistering tested response time. The TV has a 100% response time of 3.8 ms and an excellent 144Hz refresh rate.

The TV handles reflections well and has an incredible 100% color gamut, but can give off a pink tint when in bright rooms.

However, its aggressive automatic brightness limiter is distracting during bright scenes where ambient light is present. The lack of Dolby Vision support and unfriendly smart TV interface are also downsides.

Reason to Buy

  • Excellent picture quality
    • Samsung’s QD-OLED panel is excellent for sports, games, and HDR content, as it provides heightened brightness and no blooming. Additionally, the DCI color gamut tests at 100%, meaning it delivers impeccable colors, especially for HDR content.

  • Incredible contrast ratio
    • Inf :1 contrast ratio delivers perfect blacks when viewing in dark rooms

  • Great peak brightness
    • Tested at 1,500 nits, the peak brightness is among the best in the category; it provides stunning visuals for HDR content, even in bright rooms.

  • Superb motion and input handling
    • Tested at 3.8 ms, the response time provides gamers with nearly immediate commands, which helps improve gaming performance. Additionally, the response time comes in at .03 ms, and it has a refresh rate of 144 Hz for smooth visuals. Both of these metrics are at the higher end of our certified, tested TVs.

  • Wide viewing angle
    • 70-degree viewing angles mean the TV is great for large seating areas

Reason to Avoid

  • Aggressive automatic brightness limiter (ABL)
    • ABL can lower image quality when in bright rooms

The Samsung S95B OLED TV boasts an ultra-slim design that’s stylish and modern, while the S95C takes it a step further with Samsung’s quantum dot technology and even better build quality. This means the S95C combines OLED and quantum dots for an even more groundbreaking picture quality, meaning better brights and a better 144Hz refresh rate. Another difference lies in their smart interfaces. The S95B’s interface, while functional, might not be the most user-friendly. On the other hand, the S95C takes a step back here with a less favorable OS. From a price standpoint, however, the S95B is more affordable. For more info, check out our Samsung S95C OLED TV review.

The Samsung S95B shines with its near-infinite contrast ratio and color volume, delivering those perfect black levels. It’s got fantastic reflection handling, too, perfect for bright rooms or sunny days. On the other hand, the LG G2 OLED flaunts a sleek and futuristic design, and it’s incredibly slim. The LG G2 also has a special OLED Evo panel, which takes the picture quality up a notch, especially in brighter environments. When it comes to smart interfaces, LG’s webOS is often praised for its user-friendly and intuitive design, while the Samsung S95B’s TitanOZ interface isn’t as good. The Samsung S95B TV stuns with its near-infinite contrast ratio, delivering those inky blacks. Plus, its reflection handling is on point, perfect for bright rooms and sunny days, and handles brights better than the Sony A95K. However, the Sony A95K is more accurate and has superior tone mapping and HDR details; it also has X-Motion Clarity technology, which reduces blur in fast-paced action scenes. Samsung also leads with its quicker response time, giving gamers that extra competitive edge. When it comes to smart interfaces, Sony’s Android TV shines with its user-friendly design and access to a vast array of apps. Meanwhile, Samsung’s interface might need a bit more fine-tuning to match Sony’s seamless experience.
