Product Snapshot

Overview

The Bissell Crosswave Cordless MAX is a mid-range vacuum cleaner first announced in 2019. The vacuum cleaner has an average noise output of 75.9 dB, making it louder than some of the best vacuum cleaners on the market. It is powered by a 36 Volt Lithium-Ion battery that offers up to 37 minutes of cleaning, and it also offers WiFi connectivity, where owners can connect it to the Bissel app on their smartphones to get alerts, support, and cleaning tips.

This vacuum cleaner can handle wet messes since it features a water tank, takes about 193 minutes to get to a full charge, and ships with a charging dock, which also has a drying rack for its filter and brushroll.

Consensus

our Verdict

The Bissel CrossWave Cordless MAX has a poor 0.34 kPa suction force, but it is still effective on bare floors, picking up 98.75% of debris, and up to 89.5% of pet hair from different surfaces, but its carpet cleaning performance is not as impressive, as it only clears up 38% of debris. Unfortunately, it struggles to clean debris from cracks, crevices, and carpets. It also performs poorly with high-pile and low-pile carpets.

Noise output is 75.9 dB, which places it in the top half of robovacs on our certified, tested list. This vacuum can also handle wet messes effectively. However, it lacks a HEPA filter and cannot be used as a handheld vacuum as it has a fixed upright form factor. It also doesn’t ship with any attachments. The vacuum cleaner lasts about 38 minutes on one charge but has a poor 0.34 kPa suction force.

Reason to Buy

  • Good bare floor performance
    • The Bissell Crosswave Cordless MAX cleans up to 98.75% of debris on bare floors, which earns it a top 10% ranking compared to other alternatives in its category.

  • Good pet hair cleaning performance
    • The Bissell Crosswave Cordless MAX cleans up to 89.5% of pet hair, making it great for pet owners. This rating ranks it among the top third of vacuum cleaners.

Reason to Avoid

  • Low suction force
    • The Bissell Crosswave Cordless MAX has a below-average 0.34 kPa suction force.

  • Poor battery life
    • The Bissel Cordless MAX offers a 37-minute battery life, which is quite low.

  • Poor carpet cleaning performance
    • The Bissell Crosswave Cordless MAX is poor at picking up both large and small debris on high and low-pile carpets.

The Bissell Crosswave Cordless MAX is a cordless vacuum cleaner, and this makes it a lot more maneuverable than the Bissell CrossWave Pet Pro, which is corded. However, the CrossWave Pro has a higher suction rating than the CrossWave Cordless Max. This makes the CrossWave Pro more adept at cleaning up tough messes compared to the CrossWave Max. Regarding noise output, the CrossWave Cordless Max is quieter than the CrossWave Pet Pro. If you’re unsure which to pick between these two, our roundup of cordless vs. corded vacuum may be worth looking into.

The CrossWave Cordless MAX has a lower suction power rating compared to the Samsung Jet 75. Also worth considering is that the Cordless MAX can clean wet messes, while the Jet 75 cannot. This makes the Cordless MAX a better fit for all-around home cleaning. Regarding battery performance, the Jet 75 has a much longer runtime compared to the CrossWave Cordless Max. If you’re interested in the Jet 75, we’ve covered it in our Samsung Jet 75 review, but if you’re thinking of switching from a central vacuum system to an upright vacuum, then perhaps go through our central vs. upright vacuum breakdown for more insight on what to expect.

The Bissell Crosswave Cordless MAX can only be used as an upright vacuum cleaner, but on the other hand, the Shark WANDVAC System works as either a handheld or an upright vacuum cleaner. This makes the Shark cleaner more versatile and easier to use. However, the Cordless MAX has a much larger dirt compartment than the Shark WANDVAC System. The two also have varying runtimes, with the CrossWave Cordless MAX lasting longer. Feel free to check it out in our Shark WANDVAC System WS620 review.
