With moderate brightness, wide viewing angles, and VRR compatibility, the Samsung TU9010 LED 4K TV is a budget-friendly 86-inch TV for anyone seeking an immersive movie-watching and gaming experience. However, those seeking a smaller size, better reflection handling, or premium features will find better alternatives.
Released in 2021, the Samsung TU9010 LED 4K TV is a smart TV with a Crystal processor that automatically upscales content to 4K. It enables access to multiple voice assistants, including Bixby and Alexa built-in, and the AMD FreeSync reduces screen tearing.
You can connect Smart home devices to the TV with Bluetooth 4.2 and switch to the ambient mode to showcase stunning wallpapers when the TV’s not in use.
The build boasts a modern, sleek bezel design, and with a tap, you can mirror Samsung Galaxy phones. The TV is powered by Tizen OS, supports HDR10+ for color accuracy and detail, and has mega contrast.
There are four HDMI connections and two USB ports, and the TV is eARC-compatible for audio optimization.
Unfortunately, unlike the best TVs, the Samsung TU9010 comes in just one 86-inch size, but you get a 120 Hz native refresh rate and VRR compatibility.

our Verdict
The Samsung TU9010 LED 4K TV is a great 86-inch TV for displaying HDR 10+ content with moderate brightness levels and features three HDMI 2.0 and one 2.1 port for gaming.
Its excellent black uniformity makes watching movies in the dark a great experience, but there are reflections and glare during the day.
The native 120 Hz refresh rate, combined with AMD FreeSync (VRR compatible) and Real Game Enhancer+, boosts the gaming experience, while Samsung’s mega contrast (>1000000:1) ensures enhanced on-screen colors.
You get seamless 4K viewing with the ultra-fast processor that upscales low-resolution content, and the voice-control-enabled sleek OneRemote lets you seamlessly navigate the smooth Tizen interface.
Lastly, the size and panel ensure wide viewing angles, and the low input lag guarantees smooth gaming sessions.

In comparison to Samsung TU9010 LED 4K TV’s high contrast ratio, the Sony X80J’s contrast ratio is low, so blacks often appear gray-like in a dark room. The Samsung boasts an ambient mode to display gorgeous wallpapers that blend in with your home’s aesthetics, while the Sony X80J lacks this feature. Lastly, Sony X80J supports Dolby Vision, and Samsung TU9010’s equipped with HDR10+. For an OLED TV that achieves very deep blacks, check out our Sony A9S TV review, but if you’re after an affordable model with a wider range of size options, our Sony X90J review will be a better fit.

The Hisense U8H comes in three sizes (55, 65, and 75 inches) compared to the single 86-inch Samsung TU9010 LED 4K TV. The Hisense is superior at reflection handling than the Samsung. That said, the Samsung TU9010’s IPS panels allow for better off-center viewing than the Hisense U8H’s VA panels. For more size variations in a Samsung TV series, read our Samsung TU690T TV review.

The Samsung TU9010 LED 4K TV has a higher native contrast ratio than the Samsung AU8000. The TU9010 also has an additional HDMI port (four in total), whereas the Samsung AU8000 is limited to three. On the flip side, the AU8000 is slightly better at handling glare in the daytime compared to TU9010’s mediocre reflection handling.
