Product Snapshot

Overview

The GTPlayer GT800A Footrest gaming chair was announced in mid-2020 as a mid-tier gaming chair. It has a footrest below its seat, which sets it apart from most of the best office chairs on the market. While the GT800A ships with both a headrest and lumbar pillow, its lumbar pillow has a massage function, which is great for added comfort.

The massage function is common among the highest-rated gaming chairs, and the chair also has air vents on its backrest for good breathability. Its armrests are also padded, and since they’re attached to the backrest, they stay in position when reclining for good comfort.

Consensus

our Verdict

GTPlayer GT800A Footrest Gaming Chair works great for marathon gamers who would like to be able to take a comfortable break from their sessions now and then. The chair offers immense comfort, as characterized by the thick padding on the seat, backrest, and armrests. The chair also ships with both a headrest and lumbar pillow, but what makes the chair stand out is the massage function on its lumbar pillow. It connects to a power source through USB, and in this regard, the GT800A is similar to the Darkecho Gaming Chair.

The GT800A’s backrest reclines down to 135°, and its seat height has a 4” adjustment range, but the armrests aren’t adjustable. The backrest also has two air vents for breathability, but if good airflow is a priority, you’d be better off with the BestOffice Ergonomic High Back Office Chair.

Reason to Buy

  • Good Ergonomics & Adjustability
    • The GT800A has a good range of adjustability, as gamers will be able to configure its seat height over a 4” range, and its backrest also reclines down to 135°. However, its padded armrests aren’t adjustable.

  • Good lumbar support
    • The massage pillow that the GT800A ships with can also be positioned wherever an individual feels they need the most support.

  • Strong build quality
    • The GT800A is designed to support individuals who weigh up to 300 pounds, courtesy of its alloy steel frame.

Reason to Avoid

  • Armrests aren’t adjustable.
    • Even though the padded armrests on the GT800A move with the backrest when reclining, their height is not adjustable.

The GTPlayer GT800A Footrest lacks a set of Bluetooth speakers, which the GTPlayer GTRacing Music Series has. Also, the GT800A has padded armrests, which are missing in the GTRacing Music Series. The lumbar pillow is better on the GT800A, with a massage function, which the GTRacing Music Series does not. Check out our GTRacing Music Series review for more info on what else the chair has to offer.

The GTPlayer GT800A Footrest Gaming Chair’s backrest can recline up to 135°, which is superior to the 165° that the SecretLab Titan Evo 2022 is capable of. However, the armrests on the GT800A are attached to the chair’s backrest and, therefore, move back with the seat when reclining. This differs from the Evo 2022 armrests, which stay in place when reclining. Also worth noting is that the GT800A’s armrests are padded, while those on the Evo 2022 are not. Here’s our SecretLab Titan Evo 2022 review for more info on what else it has in store.

The GTPlayer GT800A has a footrest for better relaxation, which is missing on the Maingear Forma R Nero Gaming Chair. Also different is that the GT800A features a lumbar pillow with a massaging function, giving it a slight edge over the Maingear Forma R Nero, which doesn’t quite have that feature. Still, you can find out what the Forma R Nero offers by going through our Maingear Forma R Nero Gaming Chair review.
