If you’re in the market for the best electric toothbrush for your kids, the Colgate E1 Smart toothbrush is exactly what you’re looking for. Not only does it perform far better than manual toothbrushes, its soft bristles are easy on the gums, and apps linked to the toothbrush can coach a child through their good habit.
The Colgate E1 Smart Electric Toothbrush might be simple in design, but its smart device functions provide valuable feedback when brushing.
Using the Colgate Electric Toothbrush might just be the easiest toothbrush to use among other electric toothbrushes. All you do is press the power button and brush your teeth. It only has one brushing mode, like the Philips Sonicare Essence. Compared to other electric sonic toothbrushes, it performs pretty well—not the best, but still leagues better than manual toothbrushes. Instead, its major strength is its performance tracking.
When paired with an iOS device a 3D brushing coach can track your movements and give you tips on where you can improve or areas you’ve missed. What’s awesome is kids can take part in an interactive game that responds to the way they brush, encouraging better oral habits.”
The Colgate Smart Toothbrush isn’t bringing home any awards for design, not with its very simplistic aesthetic. It isn’t ugly, per say, but its design doesn’t exactly match its premium price—not like the Oral-B 7000, and that electric toothbrush is $20 more expensive. Thankfully, the toothbrush performs far better than it looks.
While the brush head has soft bristles, matching the Fairywill Electric Toothbrush’s design, the brush heads are lacking a tongue cleaner.
Considering the Colgate E1 performs well (it is Colgate, after all), has a long battery life, and near smart device capabilities, Colgate’s smart toothbrush has really good value. The value you get from the apps is invaluable, especially when you consider how reluctant kids can be sometimes. The E1 aims to not only teach kids how to brush, it can even improve an adult’s own oral habits. Having access to a mini-game is just icing on the cake.
While the Colgate Electric Toothbrush isn’t the prettiest of designs, don’t let that fool you. It’s battery life will last a long time—10 days—, soft bristles that aren’t too harsh on the teeth and gums, and an all around great brushing experience. While it is a bit on the expensive side, you get some smart device functionality that’s perfect for young kids just learning to brush their teeth.
