Line 6 Back Track + Mic Is An Ispiration Tool For Guitarists

November 18th, 2008 10:19 PM | by Jeff Bordeaux

There has been countless times when I have been “noodling” on my guitar, yah know, playing but not really paying attention, and I write a stellar riff. And many times that moment has come and gone, and I don’t even remember how to play it, but I know it was cool. No more was. Line 6 addresses all of the scatterbrained ADD fools like me through the release of the Back Track, and the Back Track Mic. Dubbed as “Inspiration Insurance” the Back Track is “Always On” for use up to 24 hours a day, which sets it apart from any other pocket recorder with a mic, cuz you don’t have to futz with a record button. Just turn it on at the beginning of your jam, and the Back Track only records when it detects an incoming signal via 1/4 input or a condenser mic. If you end up writing a ballsy riff, just tap the “Mark” button and the riff is remembered. At the end of the day you can recharge the battery through a USB port, as well as transfer any “Marked” riffs Wav. file style. Sounds killer. It also sounds like it might be useful for comedian or hip-hop heads that are well spoken, and want to capture their verbalisms throughout the day.

Priced at $99 and $149. Check it out here.

Sony Mylo 2: Much Cheaper Than Before

November 14th, 2008 6:06 AM | by M Dee Dubroff

No, you are not imagining things. When the Sony Mylo was first released in January of this year, it was a lot more expensive than it is now. At that time, the hefty price tag read $300 smackeroos, but all that has changed now.

Are the people at Sony becoming more generous to an adoring public who loves their products? Probably not, that is, unless Tinkerbelle really does live somewhere out there. But Sony has announced that it will take $100 dollars off the original asking price, dropping the final cost to $200 dollars.

There have been some improvements to the original in that this model has a mega-pixel camera, backlit keyboard and some customization in the form of a removable faceplate. The hope is that this model will appeal to young adults who can have good wireless entertainment without paying an expensive wireless subscription fee. The Sony Mylo2 can be bought at PMP Today.

If Sony is desperate enough to sell more phones by cutting $100 from the original value, their profit margin must have been significant up to now. Perhaps Sony just needs to know if price was the reason the first model didn’t sell too well.

Time (and money) will tell.

Sony Goes HD Wireless With The DMX-WL1 Bravia Wireless Link Module

September 23rd, 2008 4:43 PM | by Christen da Costa

Investing in one Blu-ray player is reasonable, but outfitting every room in your house can become exceedingly costly. If you’re ok with sharing one source, like the Leap Frog days, Sony’s newest Bravia Wireless Link Module might be the way to go. The DMX-WL1 is composed of a transmitter and receiver. Plug the transmitter into the Blu-ray player, etc, and the HD signal is received by the receiver unit up to 65 feet away. The DMX-WL1 is specifically designed for Sony Bravia TVs, integrates into its menus and works with the TV’s provided remote.

It will be available October 30th, but you can preorder it here for $800

Samsung Announces NaBee Wireless USB Solution For Digital Cameras

Samsung announced the NaBee wireless USB solution for digital cameras. With this handy device you can wirelessly connect a camera to a PC by inserting a USB dongle on both ends.

Hmm, could be useful, but it seems to me the Eye-Fi or Lexar wireless technology is the more elegant, less dongled solution.

Cables To Go announced a wireless USB to VGA kit that allows a PC to connect to a remote display up to 30 feet away. Couple this with a wireless mouse/keyboard and you have many possibilities. A remote desktop? A public display monitor? or how about a wireless connection to your home theater display?

The kit uses Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology to securely transfer signals up to 30 feet. The display connection can be shared by 6 computers and can stream video up to 720p.

This is very similar to IOGEAR’s Wireless USB to VGA kit.

Intel Wireless Power Technology

By: Albert S

Intel showed off their latest advances in wireless power technology. Wouldn’t it be nice to walk in a room and have your cell phone greet you with “Hello, I’m Charging” rather than “Hey loser, I have no reception?” Well, this is possible with Intel’s upcoming wireless power technology. Prepare to be zapped.
