  1. My favorite gadget from above is the Philips Hue Starter Pack. The LED bulbs produce a great range of whites and colors. Since incandescent bulbs are being phased out, this is a great excuse to pick up one of these Starter Kits and start experimenting. The bulbs just use ~8 watts of power which will save you a lot of money over their long lifespan.

    Controlling lights from your smartphone is fun and convenient. Philips provided a software API for third-party developers to make a wide range of apps and there are a growing number of these in App Stores.

    For everyday one-tap control of your lights, please check out “Hue Lights” on the App Store. This app includes several preset scenes and colors. Philips continues to add compatible products to their lineup including LightStrips and Bloom accent lights. These can really improve the ambiance of a room.
