Grand Theft III was a game like no other. However, after a few iterations, the story line, as well as the game play became stale. One of the biggest drawbacks was the all too familiar fighting systems, which was effectively punching and kicking.
Although the proverbial jury is still out on the “Sleeping Dog’s” story line, we do know that the fighting system looks to be folds and folds above that of GTA. In fact, the developers, Square Enix, consulted with MMA superstar GSP, otherwise known as George St. Pierre. Needless to say, there is also a bit of brand leveraging on their behalf, but why the hell not. Anyway, skip to about minute 3 in the above walk through to cut to the action. Unlike other games of this ilk, you can perform a variety of hand-to-hand combat moves that are something like a character from Tekken. Otherwise enjoy the full 8 minute walk through, which cues you into the character, his location, and some of the other unique elements in the game.
“Sleeping Dogs” arrives August 14th for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. It will cost $60.
