It broke my heart when I saw all the abandoned animals left behind after the Katrina disaster.  I shudder to think how I would feel faced with a decision like that.  So while humans have a plethora of survival gear out there this is the first I’m seeing for cats and dogs.

Approved by the Japanese Firefighting Association this flame retardant protective jacket is made from polyester (base cloth), polyurethane (outer shell), fireproof acrylic (lining) and looks like a moon boot.  The jacket comes in a variety of sizes and features a briefcase carrying handle seen on pet life jackets.

Packed inside the the jacket are a bunch of essential first aid items for pets and humans including: 50mL sealed water packs for drinking or disinfecting, nutrition bars, bandages, aromatic oil (for calming panic), first-aid gloves, mini-radio, food bowl, muzzle, hermetically sealed odor control bag (for any items distressing the pet), protective rain hood and rubber booties, freezer gel paks (to control heat), bell, waterproof ID capsule with blank paper and an emergency whistle.

What no flare gun?

At a steep price of $480 I’m positive that someone will buy this.
