The ViewSonic Elite XG270QC is an excellent high refresh rate curved gaming monitor that also delivers deep blacks and superb picture quality. However, its narrow viewing angles and the lack of an sRGB mode can be a dealbreaker to some users.

Product Snapshot

Overview

The ViewSonic Elite XG270QC is a high-end 1440p gaming monitor that was first released back in early 2020, and it boasts a 165Hz VA panel that delivers deep black levels and a 3000:1 native contrast ratio.

Similar to some of the best computer monitors available in its range, it features AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and GSync compatibility. And just like many of the most popular gaming monitors, it has a 1500R curved display. Its stand sports a 4.7-inch height adjustment, 5-23 degree tilt, and a 25-degree swivel range on either side.

The XG270QC’s display I/O consists of two HDMI 2.0 and one DisplayPort 1.4. As a result, it can’t deliver 120 Hz output from the latest generation of gaming consoles (e.g., PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and X). Other than that, it features a 3.5mm headphone jack and four USB 3.0 ports.

Consensus

our Verdict

The ViewSonic Elite XG270QC is a great well-built option for competitive gamers that crave high refresh rate gaming but also don’t want to sacrifice picture quality and resolution.

Its joystick-controlled OSD (On Screen Display) is extremely easy to use, but it does have two extremely low-powered speakers that struggle to accurately deliver punchy and bass-filled audio.

And due to its VA panel, the viewing angles on the XG270QC are incredibly narrow. On the other hand, the VA screen helps this monitor deliver a high contrast ratio.

Tested at just 3ms GTG, the ViewSonic Elite XG270QC features an extremely high response time, which reduces motion blur and overshoot to prevent ghosting. However, it also lacks an sRGB mode for professional applications (e.g., photo and video editing).

Reason to Buy

  • Excellent 165 Hz panel for high refresh rate gaming
  • Fairly low 3 ms gray to gray response time
  • Exceptionally deep black levels for an LCD panel
  • High 3000:1 contrast ratio
  • Fairly accurate colors pre-calibration
  • Support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA GSync

Reason to Avoid

  • The absence of an sRGB mode for professional apps
  • Extremely poor viewing angles
  • The curved display can be problematic for productivity-related applications
  • No presence of HDMI 2.1 for the current generation gaming consoles
  • Somewhat restricted ergonomics from the included stand
  • Two low-powered 3-watt speakers for stereo audio
