Toshiba is a household name in electronic appliances even in the United States, and their products are known to be of pretty good quality. However, another competitor would be Panasonic microwaves and other home electronics.

The Toshiba EMM131A5C-BS microwave oven keeps up with the same high standards, and also doesn’t look too bad with its black stainless steel finishing. It has a capacity of about 33 liters, and is also quite powerful at 1100 watts. This means your food gets cooked a lot faster than any other microwave with a lower wattage.

One of the more special features that this countertop microwave has is its ability to estimate how long to cook food and at what temperature thanks to its smart sensor. It isn’t perhaps a great speed cooking microwave, but it does its best. Yet, could it be one of the best microwaves you can get for your kitchen? Let’s dig deeper and find out more.

Why We Like It – Toshiba EM131A5C-BS

Cooking will no longer be a long tedious process if you have the Toshiba EM131A5C-BS at hand. This black stainless steel microwave quickly warms up your food thanks to options such as one touch start, and has a capacity of 1.2 cubic feet making it great for preparing large meals.

Pros
  • 1100 Watts of power for fast cooking
  • Power saving option
  • Has Door handle instead of button
Cons
  • No convection mode
  • No grill

Performance

The roomy 1.2 cu. ft. interior offered by the Toshiba EM131A5C-BS microwave isn’t as much as that of the Panasonic NN-SN966S, but it’s still very convenient for large family meals. Although, if you prefer a larger one at 1.8 cu. ft., then read our Sharp ZR559YW microwave oven. With the Toshiba, its turntable diameter of 12.1 inches means you can have large dishes in there, and if you’re not a fan of its beeping, you can turn it off by simply long pressing on the number 8 button for about 5 seconds.

The EM131A5C-BS microwave relies on inverter technology to properly cook food while regulating energy consumption, and comes with up to 10 power settings for you to choose from. If you like speed, then you’ll love the one-touch start function that this steel microwave comes with. If you’ve not used it before in other microwave ovens though, it might take some time to get used to. If you like this microwave, then check out our Toshiba EC042A5C SS microwave review.

Design

From the easy-to-grip door handle to the large digital display, there’s no denying that this stainless steel microwave looks pretty good sitting on a countertop, and that it’s quite similar in design to the Toshiba EM925A5A-SS. It has a stainless steel exterior, and at about 13 inches high and 20 inches wide, it really won’t take up too much space. But if you’re short on countertop space, you might want to get a built-in unit, such as the Sharp SMD2470AS.

Inside you have a LED light that illuminates your food, and a glass turntable that you can easily remove whenever it’s time for washing. Speaking of which, the microwave’s black stainless steel exterior doesn’t catch fingerprints that easily after washing or handling, and this gives it a clean look all the time. Value

The 10 power levels that you get with the Toshiba EM131A5C-BS stainless steel microwave (and the GE JNM3163RJSS as well) can help a lot especially if you don’t have that much cooking time on your hands. It’s a great convenience since you get to program up to three time & power level combinations as per your cooking needs, and with up to 1.2 cubic feet of space, there’s very little that the microwave can’t help you prepare.
