HP has always been innovative (they’ve been banging on the smartwatch door since 1977, you know), and now the company has proven itself once again as a leader in innovation by introducing the HP Sprout, an extremely unique PC workstation solution for those that love to create. The Sprout combines elements of a high-end desktop with a natural user interface by utilizing a scanner, depth sensor, projector and high-resolution camera into the device.
The Sprout has a 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, and ships with 8GB of RAM (expandable to 16GB). HP has included the NVIDIA GeForce GT 745A graphics card with 2GB DDR3 dedicated video memory and a 23″ diagonal, 10-point touch-enabled, Full HD LED display. The device will ship with Windows 8.1 on a 1 TB SSD. But what makes the Sprout special is the inclusion of HP Illuminator and HP Touch Mat. The HP Illuminator is powered by a DLP projector and high-resolution 14.6 megapixel camera with Intel’s RealSense 3D camera, which allows users to instantly capture 2D and 3D objects. The HP Touch Mat is a 20″ diagonal, 20-point touch-enabled touch mat that allows you to work with your hands to create. If the touch mat intimidates you, don’t worry — you’ll still be able to use a keyboard and mouse with the Sprout.
But what can you do with the HP Sprout? The video here will answer that for you, but, basically, it will change the way you work, the way you play and the way you create. So if you’re an origami enthusiast like the person in the demo video, you can pick up the HP Sprout for $1899.99 through the HP store.
