The Sony X90J is fantastic, thanks to its deep blacks, excellent contrast, and full-array local dimming. But, it lacks good viewing angles and has insufficient reflection diffusion. As a result, it will be problematic for users with big bright rooms.

our Verdict

The Sony X90J is great for gaming and watching movies. Its VA panel offers deep blacks, a great contrast ratio, and full-array local dimming for a great viewing experience in the dark. Gamers will love the native 120Hz refresh rate and the great response time. But if you have a big, bright room, the lack of good viewing angles and subpar reflection diffusion might be an issue.

Overview
The Sony X90J is a mid-range 4K HDR Sony TV released in April 2021. Thanks to its excellent VA panel and full-array local dimming, it can deliver better black levels than IPS LCDs. Even though it doesn’t have Sony’s XR Triluminos Pro panel technology, it still is one of the better HDMI 2.1 enabled TVs available in the market with a 120Hz panel. In addition, its revolutionary TV processing technology allows users to get superb picture quality in movies and games. With all of its gaming-specific features, it tries to target the mid-range gaming TV market. Continue reading our Sony X90J review below to learn more about what reviewers said.
