Why We Like It – Sony a6100 Review
The Sony Alpha a6100 has a compact and rugged design with features such as real-time tracking autofocus, 11fps continuous burst mode, good battery life, and continuous autofocus tracking. The image quality is excellent and you also get a good ISO range.
The 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor is a great addition for this entry-level mirrorless camera from Sony. It produces images with lifelike skin tones and natural colour. Like the Sony a6600, this too features a powerful AF system with real-time Eye AF for human as well as animals. It has 425 phase and contrast AF points and an ISO range of up to 51,200. The camera also gets fast and accurate subject tracking that most APS-C cameras lack. The Sony a7 III is a much better mirrorless camera and offers professional level performance.
The a6100 Sony APS-C mirrorless camera features a similar design as the original a6000 as well as the Sony a6400. It gets a flexible rear mounted 3.0-inch LCD touch monitor that allows for better framing. Like most mirrorless cameras, the Sony a6100 gets an electronic OLED viewfinder that’s adequate enough. The touch display supports Af drag and drop and has an easy to use menu system. You also get external mic input, memory card slots, and a Sony E mount system. Another great mirrorless camera to try is the Panasonic Lumix G7.
The Sony a6000 series includes some really good mirrorless cameras. The a6100 may not be the best camera out there, but it certainly is affordable and has enough features for beginners. It offers better features compared to the Canon EOS range or mirrorless cameras. The camera also comes with a zoom lens, which is something uncommon at this price range. It also offers 11 frames per second continuous shooting with AF and AE tracking. If you’ve got more to spend, then you could get the Nikon Z6 instead.
Sony a6100 Review Wrap Up
The Sony a6100 is an outstanding entry-level mirrorless camera thanks to features such as real-time eye AF and fast autofocus, the 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, and 11fps continuous shooting. The electronic viewfinder may not be the best in the range, but the a6100 is an excellent camera overall, especially with the kit lens available at the price.
