Secretlab Omega Softweave Review

Expert Rating

Secretlab is at it again with a gaming chair that not only looks good, but also incorporates the use of fabric instead of the all too familiar PU leather upholstery that most gamers have grown used to. The Omega Softweave gaming chair is a model that is available in dense foam and soft fabric, and comes in either a Charcoal or Cookies Cream finish – fancy ways of saying black or black and light gray. SecretLab says that this choice of material makes the chair more durable, and we believe them too. The waving is dense, as is the padding, and with headrest pillows and lumbar support for your lower back, it’ll only be a matter of time before you find the perfect seating position. If you’d like to get an idea of what Secretlab’s custom-made Softweave Fabric feels like, get on with the rest of this review, and find out if it’s the best gaming chair you’ll come across in 2020.

Why We Like It – Secretlab Omega Softweave

The Secretlab Omega range of gaming chairs has something for everyone. This Softweave alternative accommodates anyone who doesn’t have a taste for the faux leather option, or the money for the Napa leather variant.

Pros
  • Memory foam pillows
  • Firm yet comfortable
  • Lengthy 5-Year warranty
Cons
  • Stains easily

Performance

Because of the high-density foam that’s underneath, you may feel that the chair is a little firmer than you should expect, (and compared to the SecretLab Titan, it is) but not too firm to the extent that it starts getting uncomfortable. It’s the kind of firmness that’s just enough so that you don’t end up dozing off on the Omega chair. The pillows you get with it are made of memory foam, and the headrest cushion that’s included comes with a strap that lets you position it properly around the top of the chair, just the same way you would with the DXRacer Formula Series DOH/FH08/NO Newedge Edition gaming chair. The Softweave Gaming Chair is also easily adjustable, with 4-directional armrests, and the typical height and tilt adjustments that you’ll find on office chairs.

Design

The SecretLab Omega SoftWeave gaming chair doesn’t really startle you with its design, and whether you go with the Charcoal or the Cookies and Cream variant, the chair still looks pretty good as part of your gaming setup. Its SoftWeave fabric is made of a short yarn blended material, and at 350 grams per square meter, it’s very dense. Despite not having as much padding as the Vertagear SL4000, its lumbar pillow is made out of memory foam with a soft velour cover, and it feels pretty good to touch. At full height, the Secretlab chair stands at about 52 inches, and on its armrests and hinges, you’ll find the Secretlab triangles that assure you that this is indeed a Secretlab Omega gaming chair.

Value

After a few gaming sessions on the Omega Softweave gaming chair, you’ll probably agree that it’s a sturdy alternative to the plush X Rocker 51396, and that it truly is worth its sub $400 price tag. The chair also comes with a healthy 5-year warranty, which makes it all the more appealing since there aren’t that many gaming chairs that match up to that offer. Also, with a fabric upholstery, you want to try and make sure that you don’t get any spills or food particles dropping on it. The stains might take a lot of washing to take out, and even after, they’re still likely to leave a mark – you don’t want that on your Omega SoftWeave gaming chair.

Secretlab Omega Softweave Wrap Up

The Secretlab Omega Softweave gaming chair is a fantastic alternative to opt for if leather is just not your thing, and with the 5 year warranty it comes with, you should rest assured that this is a product of high quality.
