If you’re an artist of any kind, choosing to pick up the best Chromebook for artists is a great start. One option you should consider is the Samsung XE513C24-K01US. Why? For starters, it’s a 2-in-1 laptop, a laptop and tablet combination. On top of that, you get a built-in pen, allowing you to start drawing right out of the box. To find the best chromebook, make sure you know what features are the most important to you.

Why We Like It – Samsung XE513C24-K01US

The Samsung XE513C24-K01US begs to be purchased and throws everything but the kitchen sink to win you over, whether it’s the 2400×1600 resolution, built-in pen, or affordable pricing.

Pros
  • Resolution of 2400×1600
  • Built-in pen
  • Affordable
Cons
  • CPU sometimes struggles w/ resolution
  • Too few ports

Display Type & Resolution

What’s better than 1080p? 2400×1600! Yes, the Samsung Chromebook Plus XE513C24 has a beautiful 12.3-inch screen displaying a resolution of 2400×1600. And at the size, pixel density looks incredible. Don’t worry about viewing angles either; it’s an IPS panel. However, its CPU sometimes struggles with that resolution, occasionally choking on the detail it’s displaying. Perhaps a hexa core CPU would’ve been better. In terms of display type and resolution it’s ahead of some of it’s competitors. For example, see our Samsung Series 5 Chromebook Wi-Fi Review for what I mean.

Battery Life

Being able to mess with Android apps and whatnot for 10 hours straight will feel great in your hands. You could be halfway through the day without feeling the need to charge your device. The HP Chromebook 14 isn’t far behind at nine hours, however, if you want something light and durable with good battery life, our Toshiba Chromebook 2 Review is a must read.

Weight & Durability

Despite weighing almost an entire pound less than the Lenovo Chromebook S330, it’s far more durable. This is largely because of its all-metal body, which definitely can take a hit when compared to the S330—not to mention so much nicer to look at, too.

Inputs

The Samsung XE513C24 K01US is completely reliant on its two USB-C ports and microSD card reader. Those are fantastic in their own right, but anything outside that will need an adapter. To be fair, it does come with its own built-in pen, which is great to have when you’re a struggling artist.

Value

Almost everything the Samsung XE513C24-K01US has to offer is top notch, from the Chromebook screen, to its battery life. And given that you can access the Google Play store and take part in all kinds of great apps, the fact that it’s just $365 is mindblowing. In other words: you’re getting excellent value here, and it’s a fourth of the price the Google Pixelbook Go i5 Chromebook is.

Samsung XE513C24-K01US Wrap Up

Despite its CPU bottlenecking on occasion, the Samsung XE513C24-K01US has so few flaws—just baby it and don’t stretch resources too thin. It would be a silly reason to shun this option otherwise; you get a beautiful 2400×1600 screen, along with a built-in pen, great pricing, and access to Android apps. It’s a match made in heaven.
