The Samsung UN55NU7100 is definitely in the running for the best-sounding TV on the market. Its Dolby Digital Audio sounds good for a flatscreen TV, and its great picture quality makes this TV a good find. But, is it one of the best TVs around? Read on to find out!
The Samsung UN55NU7100 has great Dolby Digital Audio as well as an easy-to-use smart remote control. The Samsung smart hub comes with a convenient Universal Guide so you can access all your favorite content in one place. And for the price, the Samsung has great picture quality. For another 55-inch to consider, you can read our Sony X900H 55 Inch TV: 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV review. Additionally, if you want to bump up your resolution from 4K to 8K, we have a review of the Samsung QN55Q900RBFXZA QLED you can check out as well.
The Samsung NU7100 is an Ultra HD 4K TV that can even upscale non-4K content to 4K with its UHD engine. PurColor technology gives it a wider color gamut for millions of shades and beautiful picture quality. You can watch high dynamic range content, including HDR10+, with lifelike colors and contrast. And it even has a motion rate of 120 for fluid sports and gaming graphics. While it doesn’t have as many features as more expensive units (like the LG OLED E9 TV), it still has great picture quality and does the basics. With Dolby Digital Audio, the Samsung NU7100 has fairly decent built-in speakers for a flat-screen TV. However, many US Amazon reviewers noted that the sound levels are fairly low, and many others purchased a separate soundbar for better sound quality. It doesn’t have a subwoofer built-in, which is a drawback. If the sound quality is a deal-breaker for you, check out our Samsung UN32M4500 review.
The Samsung NU7100 smart TV comes with a really handy Universal Guide that combines content from your favorite streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and many more) into one convenient listing. You can also download the Samsung SmartThing app to your smartphone and control compatible devices in one place, as well as access personal pictures and videos through the Samsung Cloud. One drawback is that it doesn’t have a built-in voice assistant like other newer models. But overall, the TV is a great addition to any smart home.
This Samsung TV has 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports, which gives it excellent connectivity. It also has an ethernet port and wifi built right into the TV, meaning easy internet setup. The TV even has an analog tuner built in. It does not support Bluetooth, which is a drawback. If you need an extra HDMI port, you can read our review of the Samsung GN65Q6FN 43, which also includes a built-in cable management system.
The Samsung NU7100 is $840, which isn’t as expensive as the LG CX OLED and other higher-end models. That means it’s more budget-friendly, but with such great picture quality, you definitely get more than what you pay for. You don’t necessarily need an external sound system, which is a nice saving, but without a built-in voice assistant, you will need to pay extra for a Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
The Samsung UN55NU7100 is definitely a great find, with good picture and sound quality. If you need a basic smart TV without all the bells and whistles of higher-end models, then the NU7100 is definitely right for you. But if you’re looking for something more, check out another model: the Samsung Q80R.
