90 Expert Rating

The Samsung MC12J8035CT countertop microwave is well appreciated for its diverse range of features, and with a 1600 Watt grill power output, it’s definitely got a strong chance at being the best microwave for a lot of people. The 1600 watt grill heater is not to be confused with its 900 Watts that you’ll also get from the microwave oven, as the MC12J8035 happens to have both convection oven and microwave cooking features. It’s built as a countertop microwave, but if you so wish, you could have it installed into your kitchen cabinetry so that you can have it completely flush with your kitchen. Sounds interesting? Well, go ahead with the rest of this review to find out what else it’s got in store.

Why We Like It – Samsung MC12J8035CT

The Samsung MC12J8035CT microwave is a multi-purpose microwave that’s perfect for convection cooking and is also able to brown your food from the outside without drying inside through power convection technology.

Pros
  • Power convection technology for more even cooking
  • Slim Fry technology to use less fat when frying
  • Scratch resistant Ceramic Enamel Interior that’s easy to clean
Cons
  • Slightly expensive

Power & Performance

The Samsung model MC12J8035CT microwave is perfect for anyone who would like to use the same appliance for roasting their chicken, and for reheating last night’s dinner. Unlike the Samsung MG11H2020CT, the convection oven utilizes the cooking power that comes from distributing hot air inside the cooking chamber, and as a result, it is able to cook food more evenly without any kind of hot spots. At a 1.2 cu ft capacity, the stainless steel Samsung countertop convection oven is just about great for a small-sized family, and is only slightly bigger than the MG11H2020CT. For three other recommendations in this size, you’ll want to read our GE Profile PEB9159SJSS convection microwave review, Panasonic microwave oven 1200 Watts review, and our Sharp microwave drawer review.

Alternatively, for a much larger unit, you’ll want to check out the Samsung Black stainless microwave.

Durability

The average lifespan for a microwave spans between 5 to 10 years, but if you get a really good one, this can stretch to up to 15 years. The Samsung MC12J8035CT countertop microwave oven is still relatively new in the market, but we can rightly estimate that you’re going to be using it for a long time before you start seeing any problems with it. As is standard with most Samsung microwave ovens, you will get a full year’s warranty on both parts and labor, and with a ceramic enamel interior, that’s scratch resistant and easy to clean, keeping the Samsung microwave looking nice and clean.

However, we recommend three other brands with high longevity, including the Toshiba EM925A5A-BS, Farberware Black FMO10AHDBKC, and the Sharp Over-the-Range convection microwave.

Ease of Use

The MC12J8035CT countertop convection microwave features glass touch controls that give it a sleek feel and a blue-lit digital display that is easy. You also get 9 preset cooking options with it, and even though this is just one less than you’ll get with the ME19R7041FG Samsung – 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave – Stainless steel, you’ll still get a wide range of options that’ll help you get your food prepared faster, and save you a lot of time in the kitchen. Its drop-down door design makes it a lot different from the countertop microwave designs that we’re all used to, giving it a premium look & design. The AmazonBasics 700W Microwave on the other hand is an appliance that introduces a new form of convenience to your cooking, voice activation by using Alexa voice control. And, for just a simplistic model, check out our Magic Chef microwave review.

Added Features & Versatility

Through its PowerGrill Duo technology, the microwave can crisp your food from the outside without drying it on the inside, which is great because your food stays juicy. Also, with Slim Fry technology, the microwave can fry your food with less fat than you would use when deep frying. With up to 8 pre programmed automatic frying settings to choose from, deep frying will never be the same again.

Value

Retailing at $638, the Samsung MC12J8035CT microwave does have a hefty price tag, but it does come with the features that make it well worth buying even at that price. The microwave’s power convection technology uses hot air for more well-rounded cooking, and this is a feature that’s missing on the Samsung MS14K6000AS. We would recommend buying this microwave if frying and roasting is something you tend frequently.

Samsung MC12J8035CT Wrap Up

The black stainless steel trim that you’ll be able to get this Samsung microwave is perfect for fitting in any modern kitchen, and with an eco mode to boot, you’ll be able to switch off the blue lit display whenever the convection power grill duo microwave whenever it’s not in use.
