Samsung has added yet another tablet to their product portfolio dubbed as the Galaxy Tab Active. It doesn’t bring top-of-the-line specifications, but is designed as a rugged tablet for business users to take on the daily wear and tear. Samsung mentioned the tablet can withstand a 1.2m drop with the protective cover on, and comes with IP67 certification making it dust and water-resistant — obviously to a certain level. The tablet measures 126.2 x 213.1 x 9.75mm, but it’s not very light — it weighs 393 grams.
“Samsung understands today’s businesses have demanding requirements to enable growth,” said JK Shin, CEO and head of IT & mobile communication at Samsung Electronics. “As a trusted global leader in mobile technology, Samsung is ready and able to deliver solutions built specifically for professional-use, featuring innovative offerings and technological capabilities that are unmatched anywhere in the market.”
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active comes with an 8-inch display sporting a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, with a quad-core 1.2GHz processor under the hood. There’s 1GB of RAM on board with 16GB internal memory, coupled with a microSD card slot that supports up to 64GB of memory.
Other features include 3.1MP camera for photos and videos, a 4,450 mAh battery, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and runs Android 4.4 KitKat as its operating system out of the box. There’s 4G LTE connectivity present so that you can get data access on the go. Samsung Galaxy Tab Active will hit retail in Titanium Green and it comes with the Protective Cover and the C-Pen. There’s no word about the pricing of the tablet.
