Testers lauded the ROCCAT Pyro’s impressive gaming performance and credited it to its low latency and responsive key switches. They also liked its build quality and low typing noise, but they weren’t impressed that only some of its keys were macro-programmable. They also didn’t appreciate its bulky size and lack of wireless connectivity.

Product reviewers were quite pleased that the ROCCAT Pyro gaming keyboard had customizable RGB lighting and that its latency was very low. These pros made it great for gaming. Product reviewers from Tech Radar liked that it had a gunmetal finish and quipped that this gave it a much more premium look.

During their tests, they could configure its RGB lighting sequence and also found its keys quite responsive when they used it when gaming. The testing team from PC Gamer was also delighted with its build quality and liked that it had a low typing noise.

However, they were not too pleased that only specific keys are macro programmable. This gives the Redragon K582 a slight edge since all its keys are macro-programmable, and its key switches can be hot-swapped. You can find out more about it in our Redragon K582 SURARA RGB review. Testers were also disappointed with the Pyro’s lack of wireless connectivity and complained that its large size (plus the wrist rest) took up significant desk space.

Overview

Announced in mid-2021, the ROCCAT Pyro is an entry-level mechanical gaming keyboard with 104 keys and RGB backlighting. The full-size keyboard measures 17.6 by 5.9 inches and is well built with doubleshot ABS keycaps that have a smooth feel. Its ergonomics are almost as good as those of the best keyboards on the market, as it has one incline setting and a detachable wrist rest.

The keyboard has dedicated media keys and a volume control knob on its top right section that feels very smooth when turning. Its 6ms latency puts it among the highest-rated gaming keyboards in the industry, and its low profile makes it quite comfortable to type on.
